Only 5 Days left... Get ready to be inspired at our ‘Humboldt meets Leibniz‘ event with the ‘Three Lives‘ session! Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing more about the individual sessions of the event, so stay tuned. Following the phenomenal feedback from the last event, we’ve planned this session again to bring you three remarkable stories from award-winning scientists: - Prof. Milica Radisic, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Prof. Leo Cheng, University of Auckland, New Zealand - Prof. Katja Loos, University of Groningen, the Netherlands In the ‘Three Lives‘ format, these esteemed scientists will share short presentations about their lives, career paths, and the pivotal decisions that set them on their paths to international acclaim. They will provide personal insights into their upbringings, social and cultural backgrounds, and the unique challenges they faced within their respective political systems. What drove their passion for science? How did they navigate barriers and doubts? Which networks and mentors were instrumental in their careers? Their stories will not only highlight diverse journeys but will also inspire the next generation of scientists to stay true to their ideals and seize opportunities along the way. Engage with their experiences and gain valuable wisdom as they discuss these key questions and more! For a glimpse into what’s ahead, watch the videos of the ‘Three Lives‘ presentations and browse the photos from the 2022 event here: https://lnkd.in/eFrecpBg #HmL #HumboldtmeetsLeibniz #Bioengineering #Leibniz #Hannover #Implant #Research

Introducing Danaysha Thompson, one of Bioversity’s newest students! 🔬 Tell us about yourself - what were you doing before Bioversity, your family, where you're from, and anything else you want to share. Before Bioversity, I studied art at UMass Boston, but I was no longer able to continue my studies due to financial hardships. I went on to work full-time at Flour Bakery. My family works full-time to support my sister while she is away at college. Both my family and I were born and raised here in Massachusetts. Before my major change, I initially wanted to study biology, however, there weren't any career paths that grasped my attention at the time. Why did you choose Bioversity? What specific goals or aspirations do you hope to achieve through your participation? I chose Bioversity because this seemed like the perfect opportunity to rekindle my interest in biology. This program broadens the choices of work for me. Aside from working within the biotech field, I believe that the program will help me with certain aspects within the hiring process. Life science employers: our fourth cohort graduates on August 29! We encourage you to consider welcoming these graduates on your team. Our program vets all students and then helps them develop cutting-edge skills from Bioversity to enrich your organization. While this cohort is still in progress, check out some of our recent graduates: https://lnkd.in/egMrzRcV Zach Stanley Ross Marshall

Not only PhD students, this is actually the reality of what wet lab researchers go through: one part grit, one part glory. Both are equally important. In the lab: Long hours, setbacks, and constant troubleshooting. This is where the hard work happens—the grind behind the scenes, unseen by most. It’s messy, exhausting, and sometimes overwhelming. But it's also where growth, breakthroughs, and resilience are forged. At the conference: This is the moment to share the results of those countless hours in the lab, engage with experts, and celebrate achievements. But behind the suit and smiles is the same person who’s been through the trenches of research. Takeaways: Hard Work Isn’t Always Glamorous – The real work happens in the lab, where passion meets perseverance. Success Takes Time and Struggle – What you see at the conference is only the tip of the iceberg. Balance is Key – It’s important to embrace both the messy lab days and the polished professional moments. #PhD

Witnessing wonder one banana peel at a time: Inspiring tomorrow's scientists at Let It Shine Academy! Making a difference in the world of science starts small, with bright eyes brimming with curiosity. That's why we hosted our first-ever science fair at Let It Shine Academy (LISA), and the energy was electric! ✨ Our budding scientists dove headfirst into the fascinating world of life science, embarking on a quest to extract DNA from everyone's favourite potassium-packed fruit: the banana! From mashing mushy banana pulp to marveling at the tiny threads of life under microscopes, the excitement was palpable. Each step, each giggle, each "Woah!" moment reaffirmed our belief: igniting a passion for science in young minds is worth every ounce of effort. Because who knows? Tomorrow's groundbreaking discoveries, life-saving innovations, and world-changing solutions might just be born from a simple banana and a spark of wonder in a young scientist's eye. And we wouldn't have it any other way! What was your favourite/first science experiment as a kid? Lets read it on the comment section 👇🏾👇🏾 #ScienceFair #LISA #FutureScientists #DNAExtraction #MakingADifference #STEMEducation #science #cell

In a world where young minds are brimming with questions about life, about finding not just answers but paths that lead to answers. This is the world I-GENE Life Science Foundation dreams of, and it all began with an idea: the burning desire to illuminate the path of the next generation in life science. Last year, that idea materialised. Driven by a passion to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and youthful potential, I co-founded I-GENE Life Science Foundation . We aren't just another foundation; we are a movement, one with the sole purpose of changing the narratives of life science in the younger generation of Nigeria and the world at large. Because the hope for a brighter tomorrow isn't a distant dream; it's the harvest of the seeds we plant today. I-GENE, like a dedicated gardener, sows the seeds of knowledge, cultivates curiosity, and guides young scientists toward the sun. We believe that when we equip them with the right tools, the right questions, and the right spark – we empower them to take the right steps, not just for their success, but for the betterment of our world through career talks, interactive webinars, and vibrant science fairs, Like it's always said, "the journey of a thousand miles begin with a step" We've taken the first step, many more are yet to be taken.
