To celebrate #WorldWetlandsDay on February 2nd, I’ve come down to WWT’s Slimbridge Wetland Centre to get lost where the water meets the land, and to connect with my local wildlife. Wetlands are water-purifying, flood-busting, nature-boosting, carbon-sinking, and mood-lifting habitats, that burst with life. To celebrate World Wetlands Day, I've come down to WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre to get lost where the water meets the land and to connect with my local wildlife wetlands. Superpowered nature bursting, flood busting ecosystems. I absolutely love this time of year on the river 7 winter sun. It's just lovely to see the arrival of the Buick Swan from Arctic Russia. You know those Barnacle geese? Talk to me, Goose, son of waders. Black Wings. There's red Shank calling. It's a nice big flock of curlew. Avocets sweeping their bills across the surface of the water to Kestrel hovering as well, the sun just catching her back. My favourites trains. It's a group of seven and you can still see some dishes juveniles hanging around with their parents. Utter bliss. Now if that doesn't make you feel good, I don't know what will. Just watch this all day. There's just something about wetlands, the sights, the sounds, the smells. You never know what's waiting for you around the corner. Very lucky to have this on my doorstep.
