Meet Wild Health’s Co-Founder & Chief Science Officer, Dr. Mike Mallin. He’s a board-certified emergency medicine physician, but also an avid athlete who’s participated in adventure races, ultra-marathons, cycling races, and CrossFit competitions – to name a few. Dr. Mallin has always been fascinated by human optimization: fitness, diet, sleep, and supplementation. His passion lies in science-based modalities for helping individuals unlock their performance potential, elevate wellbeing, and crack the code of longevity to live the highest quality of life possible. It was this dedication to providing personalized, genetics-based care that inspired him to co-found Wild Health back in 2019. An insight I picked up through my Healthy CEO Club’s launch event together with Choong Hou Koh, Dr. Arun Jayaraj, MBBS, and Jorming G.: VO2 max is used as a metric to determine if someone should proceed with a heart transplant; Generally, a VO2 max of less than 15 ml/kg/min is a threshold where heart transplantation might be considered. On the flip side, there is no ‘upper limit’ to VO2 max’s correlation with all-cause mortality. The higher yours is, the higher your survivability. Such insight gave me a better appreciation of Healthy CEO Club’s goals: To help fellow c-suites raise their VO2 max and strength. I.e. The two greatest predictors of longevity. Uniquely, we’re harnessing the power of community, social challenges, and mystery prizes to make health habits more sustainable.
