In Alberta, wildlife sweeps are required year-round for applicable dispositions issued by the Regulator and are an approval condition. A wildlife sweep must be conducted prior to activity resulting in land or vegetation disturbance where there is risk of wildlife features being disturbed or destroyed. These features include nests, dens, hibernacula, roosts, lodges, dams, mineral licks, and more. The liability for a wildlife sweep rests with the Disposition Holder, Licensee or Permit Holder. See what is being done to revitalize and improve wildlife habitat and resources for osprey in the United States. NSSF, in partnership with Henry Repeating Arms and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Fish & Wildlife, collaborated in this Partner With a Payer project to tell the story of how these wildlife conservation efforts are funded and executed and see the impact they have in the field. Companies including firearm and ammunition manufacturers and importers fund these conservation efforts by paying excise taxes established by the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act (known as the Pittman-Robertson Act). We all have a purpose on this Earth ! We need to protect our wildlife ! Cutting down trees and building communities ; takes away their homes ! Which leads them to making homes near us or right where we are staying . They are doing their best to adapt and try to survive just like us . This shouldn’t be survival of the fittest , rather we should see what we could do to help them thrive too . Not only that but trees have other benefits than just protecting wildlife ! Trees are something we need to live ! Ask your legislators, council, and other members to protect wildlife , protect wetlands , and protect our trees . I know we have gotten accustomed to having things right by us , you drive and you see so many stores. So many stores that sell the same thing . On one hand we have come a long way ! And it’s nice to have the convenience of a store being 3 mins away . On the flip side of that for our own comfortability we are sacrificing innocent beings ! For our own comfort . I believe that certain developments shouldn’t be built if we already have a similar establishment . That way we can conserve land for our animals as well . I have seen to many dead wildlife in a such short period of time . Remember as we have signs stating Drive like your children live here , we need to drive like wildlife live among us too ! They want to get to their love ones at the end of the day as well . I feel like as a society we have been desensitized! Have lost compassion and forgot what taking care of Mother Earth looks like . We need to do the right thing not for personal gain but for Unity, Grace , and love . The port has a large footprint of concrete pilings so understanding what grows on them and how fish use them as habitat is important to studying impacts of coastal development and implementing more habitat friendly design in the future.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recent report reveals that wetlands (mostly freshwater) now cover less than 6% of the lower 48 states, half their original area. Loss rates have increased by 50% since 2009. The report calls for action to reverse this trend and continue providing future generations with clean water, protection against natural disasters, resilience to climate change, and habitats for wildlife. #Wetlands #Conservation #NatureBasedSolutions

BREAKING NEWS: Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) denied a listing petition from the Center and allies seeking federal protection for gray wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains. This would have stopped states like Idaho, Montana and Wyoming from allowing the widespread killings of wolves, which is currently allowed under state laws. While wolves in most of the lower 48 are federally protected under the Endangered Species Act, wolves in Idaho, Montana, eastern Washington, eastern Oregon and northern Utah lost federal protections through a congressional legislative rider in 2011. Following a court battle, wolves in Wyoming also lost federal protection in 2012. Since losing Endangered Species Act protection, wolves in the Northern Rockies have suffered widespread persecution. Although there are more than 400 unique bird species that call the Great Plains region home, you might need to be a little eagle-eyed yourself to spot them. 👀 The expansive grasslands of North America provide an ideal habitat for many bird species with ample food sources and coverage from predators. However, this critical ecosystem is threatened by development and other stressors. U.S. grassland birds are among the fastest declining bird species due to habitat loss, tree and shrub encroachment, and pesticide applications. Together with ConocoPhillips and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), NFWF is currently seeking proposals to help address the loss of 3 billion birds since 1970 by supporting projects that conserve, restore, or enhance grasslands, among other priorities.
