Winter Management Program at Wildlife SOS! Winters can be tough at our centres. As temperatures drop to an all time low, our team moves into our comprehensive winter care regime, ensuring that all of our resident animals are kept as warm and comfortable as is possible. Elephants such as Lakshmi, dubbed 'India's skinniest elephant' at the time of her rescue, are provided heating lamps, soothing massages with sesame and clove oil. Lakshmi's diet is adjusted to provide additional nutrition for the cold, all details carefully tailored. Temperatures are set to drop further, at which point we will introduce jumbo jackets for the elephants, in addition bonfires will be set outside enclosures on particularly chilly nights. Our dedicated caregivers and veterinarians ensure that every animal receives the warmth and care they deserve. Looks compassionate but I have a different opinion. Who will put sweaters/ covers on Lions, hyenas, tigers, monkeys, birds, and all other animals humans can't touch/ reach? Don't they feel cold? In cities, I find people putting sweaters on street dogs. I understand their love but what about cats and monkeys? Humans can't reach them. They also feel cold but they have maintained their thick immunity cover. Think. Aren't we weakening their breed?
you are doing an amazing work! we can see the progress in lakshmi
Lakshmi was almost worked to death - prior to her rescue by Wildlife SOS in 2021
