Leading up to Christmas ’tis the season the high street comes alive… Great to take the lead in the City AM Notebook this section, pondering about our high streets. Walking down Oxford Street earlier this year was depressing, once the nation’s high street – a destination itself – the sea of vacant, clearance and sweet shops. The same can be said for many up and down the UK. But we can do better – and we do this time every year with making the high street a destination for Christmas. Those leading the way are FLANNELS, Related Argent's public art, London Borough of Sutton partnership with Oru, Patch and there are so many more I didn’t get to name! Oxford St is a classic UK farce. Decades of circular discussions. Sort out part pedestrianisation and clean up.
Thankfully Oxford Street seems to be slowly turning a corner and have signed some really exciting retailers. Long may it continue.
Thanks for sharing this article with me Tony Cox loved the article Will Kinnear so many great takeaways and everything the 2025 Group are trying to bring to Grimsby’s town centre.
Huge thanks Will!
