In reality, I had never seen or touched a computer until I entered my sophomore year of high school. This isn't a story from the 1800s but rather from 2003 in my hometown of Malentouen, Cameroon. The news spread through the school: Mr. Bassong, our philosophy teacher, had a computer. It was a curiosity for many of us. My mother (you talk about a capable woman? A strong woman? Here is one, the real deal), Charlotte Mfonguie, paid $10 so that I could learn to manipulate this magical device. After a few days of training, my joy and pride were indescribable from having touched such a revolutionary device. In 2006, during our enrollment at the University of Yaoundé 1 (Ngoa Ekélé), it was obvious that the "math whizzes" from "Lycée de Malentouen" would study mathematics or, to a lesser extent, physics. We were proud of it. When Oumé and I informed my uncle at the time, Nji Ntieche, of our decision, he asked us why we didn’t consider computer science. His suggestion made us laugh because, for us, computer scientists were those helping in public offices to type documents on computers. Amused, my uncle, now my grandfather (I don’t even know if he remembers all of this), explained to us that those people are consumers of IT products, and that real computer scientists are those who develop IT systems. He explained that these professionals are trained in universities and that computer science is a genuine field of study. To reassure myself, I asked him if computer scientists are those who make computers talk. He answered: yes. Suddenly, everything became clear to me. I then remembered my experience with my philosophy teacher’s computer and all the magic it represented. I then decided, on the spot, to make machines talk. Since 2006, this mission has been taking shape. It’s a story of love, passion, and magic. Willan Technologies is simply the visible manifestation of this fire that has been burning in me since that time. Let’s keep moving forward! We're just getting started! #Inspiration #Journey #PassionForTech #ComputerScience #Technology #Education #Innovation #WillanTechnologies #PersonalDevelopment

CEO Secunets Technologies Ltd. Angel Investor. Career Mentorship and Coaching. VP Kenya CyberSecurity & Forensics Association (KCSFA). Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
National Research Fund Hackathon: The official launch of this event was a great success at Riara University courtesy of Prof Robert Gateru. The hackathon will run on 6th / 7th June at Safari Park Hotel and it will be supported by a great network of mentors and judges. The hackathon is very critical in molding the next generation of CyberSecurity professionals who are purpose-driven and valuable in the social economic agenda It draws participants across the nation and there is an emphasis on marginalized regions as well as inclusion, challenging our young ladies to proactively arise and be counted Why such events are valuable for the National Research Fund: 1. Being a legally mandated institution to promote research and innovation, the hackathon will identify great talent and provide them with a platform to exercise their skills for exposure. Engaging in a competitive model provides a level playing field for anyone interested in experientially growing in CyberSecurity 2. Many innovations are supposed to be translated into working products that generate an income. A key ingredient in this equation is funding right from ideation into moving to the market. Young innovators will be equipped on proper management of funds to assist them in alignment of priorities to needs when funding is available 3. We are in an interesting dispensation as far as CyberSecurity evolution is concerned. Rapid growth in technology has increased attack surfaces and created a new breed of cyber criminals who leverage the same technology as a double-edged sword (AI and such). Equally, we must build skilled professionals who can provide defensive / offensive support to institutions both private and public. #NationalResearchFund #NRF #ResearchandInnovation #CyberSecurityResearch #CyberSecurityInnovation NRFHackathon

⭐ New Report ⭐ I'm thrilled to finally share my latest report—a true passion project—on the National Science Foundation's CyberCorps scholarship-for-service program. This report helps to shed light on why institutions seek to be part of the program, what factors make an institution’s program successful, what fields of study student recipients are pursuing, and why programs might focus on graduate students over undergraduate students—all of which inform the changes PIs would like to see in the CyberCorps program. Additionally, this paper is highly complementary to the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy. The NCWES specifically mentions the CyberCorps program six times when laying out ways to increase participation in cyber education and workforce pathways while acknowledging that the federal government will explore expanding the capacity of such programs. President at SET University. Reinventing higher education to empower future tech innovators. Bridge-Builder between Tech, Academia, and Government. Advocate for Women in Tech.
Less than a year ago, this photo was taken in a well-known Ukrainian restaurant in New York, where Nick G. first shared his bold vision with me. Fast forward to today, and Nick is boarding his flight to Ukraine—three flights and two trains later, as travel to Kyiv is still a challenge. Now, it’s time to share this exciting news with you! As you know, entrepreneurship is deeply embedded in the DNA of SET University. It’s not just something we teach—we live it. We believe the best teacher is hands-on experience, and that’s a core value for us. I’m happy to announce that we are launching a cybersecurity startup with Nick and its Ukrainian chapter based at SET University. The goal of the project is to build an effective cybersecurity incident monitoring and response system, initially focused on educational institutions and non profits in the North America and Ukraine with plans to expand into other regions and industries, to make cybersecurity accessible to most vulnerable organizations. This initiative in Ukraine will be technically led by our dear friend, ambassador, and lecturer at SET University, Serhii Khariuk A portion of the startup’s profits will be directed toward student scholarships and educational development, allowing us to continue fulfilling our promise—bringing opportunities to Ukraine, creating companies and jobs, attracting foreign investment, and building a tech hub, step by step. How many foreign startups do you know that have opened in Ukraine in the past year? We’re changing that. Join us at our upcoming event, where we will present this partnership and hear Nick’s story—from the CIA to launching a cybersecurity startup in Ukraine. Trust me, this is not something he ever expected he to do in his life! You can find the registration form in the first comment.

Jackson, who completed her year-long #NCEPFP (Education Policy Fellowship Program) and delved into education policy at the state (North Carolina) and federal levels! We at T-ATP can't wait to use the information our founder learned through her fellowship to better service our future accelerators with #digitalliteracy and #cybersecurityeducation by exposing and having them thrive in the technological age. Founder S2 - Stalker Solutions | Keynote Speaker | Consultant | Board Member | Executive Coach | Senior Fellow National Defense University | Retired U.S. Marine
Cyberspace: The Now Frontier When many people think of cyberspace, they often associate it with the Department of Defense. However, when I think of cyberspace, I see both opportunities and challenges that extend beyond military domains. Cyberspace represents a whole-of-society paradigm, involving various sectors and stakeholders, not just one element or organization. My perspective on cyberspace also encompasses the vulnerabilities it presents, where even a minor unprotected entry point can lead to significant economic losses and disrupt societal services. Drawing from my experiences at United States Cyber Command, the National Security Agency, and my pursuit of an MS in Cyber, along with my involvement in cyber-specific boards, I am optimistic about the future. However, I am equally committed to emphasizing the critical importance of STEM education and cultivating cyber skills to address these challenges effectively. Veterans and parents, as you contemplate where to invest your time or guide your children's pursuits, I implore you to prioritize fostering creativity and embracing STEM education, particularly in the field of cybersecurity. The future of cyber, enriched by advancements in AI and evolving technologies, holds immense promise. By nurturing these skills, we can prepare ourselves and future generations to thrive in an ever-changing digital landscape. For those of you that operate in this arena, what would you add? For those interested, what questions do you have?
