AI is the great revolution of this century, and there is no doubt about it, but many companies get lost in the hype of the technology or do not know how to apply it in a way that helps them in their objectives and makes a difference from their competitors. Here a very important point comes into play: What should we use AI for? Well, the answer is simple: to improve people's lives. The concept of Human-Centered AI (HCAI) is an emerging discipline that seeks to create AI systems that amplify and augment, rather than displace, human capabilities. It seeks to preserve human control in a way that ensures AI meets our needs while operating transparently, delivering equitable results, and respecting privacy. This type of AI learns from human input and collaboration, allowing it to continuously improve, which helps create patterns by which personalized and enhanced customer experiences can be created. In fact, it helps to achieve numerous benefits, such as informed decision-making, reliability, and scalability, or the creation of more successful software and products. Creating functional and reliable AI requires professionals in the field, as well as an approach that pays special attention to responsible and ethical AI. At Plain Concepts we seek new forms of research that rigorously design forms of human-AI interactions and experiences that enhance and expand human capabilities. This will result in better products, happier customers, and a society with an improved quality of life. How do you see this approach around AI?

#generativeAI in the business sector has, to date, been a bit of a double-edged sword. On one side, there exists incredible potential for #productivity boosts, but on the flip side, this new #tech is coming with its fair share of risks and ethical dilemmas. There is no denying that this has been a wild ride thus far, with generative AI tools like #ChatGPT pulling in users faster than Netflix and Google Translate ever did. However, the thorny question for businesses now is how to best engage with #AI without losing the trust of #customers and #employees. AI will take all our jobs. Will AI do everything so we will never need creators? Absolutely not…yet.. AI hasn't reached the point where it can fully replicate human creativity and intuition. While it's adept at certain tasks, like data analysis or generating content within predefined parameters, true creative thinking involves imagination, emotion, and context - aspects that AI still struggles to emulate. So, while AI can assist and augment the creative process, it's unlikely to replace the unique spark of human creativity anytime soon. So, instead of viewing AI as a threat, we can see it as a tool to enhance our capabilities as creators.
