Innovative Green Cement Companies Are Leading the Way in Reducing Carbon Emissions - Cement production has long been a significant contributor to global carbon emissions, with an estimated 3.4 billion metric tons of CO2 released annually. A halt to cement production would reduce the global carbon footprint as effectively as removing all vehicles from the road. Each year, around four billion metric tons of cement are produced, and this process is responsible for nearly an equal mass of carbon dioxide emissions. Two key strategies are gaining momentum to tackle the carbon impact of cement: 1. Cement Substitution: Replacing traditional cement with lower-carbon alternatives. 2. Aggregate Capture: Utilizing captured carbon to create synthetic aggregates like limestone and sand for concrete mixtures.
