There’s a new plan to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland’s criminal justice system.
Better Justice Together is the Queensland Government’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Justice Strategy 2024–2031.
It was created in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and community-controlled organisations, government agencies and non-government organisations.
We would like to thank everyone who shared their story, insight and experience with us. Your voices shaped Better Justice Together and informed the plan for change moving forward.
Better Justice Together features four focus areas in the plan to create change:
- working together
- early intervention and prevention with local decision-making for safer communities and families
- doing justice differently for a better and fairer justice system
- address offending and reduce re-offending.
