A few weeks ago, I ran into my good friend Tarrus Richardson, a visionary investor and a generous individual. Tarrus, with his forward-thinking mindset, has been instrumental in helping so many others succeed. Even as an analyst at Solomon Brothers 30 years ago, he played a pivotal role in shaping my career from "Wall Street" to Private Equity. During our recent interaction, Tarrus shared his impressive success stories, including delivering high returns and leading a significant recapitalization deal. His ability to identify and back the best opportunities in his network is truly remarkable. Reflecting on our discussion, I realized the importance of recognizing opportunities and supporting those who are winning, like Tarrus. His track record as a distributor speaks volumes about his expertise in the industry. It's crucial to acknowledge and learn from individuals like Tarrus, who embody success through strategic investments and a visionary approach. As I continue to navigate the investment landscape, I aim to adopt a similar mindset to avoid overlooking the best opportunities right in front of me. It was more than a symbol to give me the hat off his head. Tarrus reminded me, when making private investments focus on the best. Like Master Yoda of the Jedi Order commanded, "concentrate all of your fire power on the nearest Starship!" Tarrus has built a starship. It will be a Type 2 error to miss it.
