On July 11, the New York Department of Financial Services adopted Insurance Circular Letter 7 on the Use of Artificial Intelligence and External Consumer Data and Information Sources in Insurance Underwriting and Pricing. The Circular Letter is intended to provide DFS’s expectations for insurers authorized to write insurance in New York who develop and/or use external consumer data and information sources, artificial intelligence systems, and other predictive models in underwriting and pricing insurance policies and annuity contracts.
