Figma introduced some really cool updates in #Config2024 that will transform your entire design process.
Figma changed their whole UI (they are calling it UI3).
Two things are coming to my mind:
First, Figma used Figma to revamp Figma 🤓
And second, to me, it feels really cool🔥.
Personally, I have a similar style of designing. It gives a very modern vibe to Figma. So, 100 points for it.
Also, Figma launched their own AI called Figma AI 🤖 (*Quite a creative name, right?).
With this AI, you can now generate UI drafts just with prompts. You can search for elements with images in your projects.
Prototyping and renaming of layers can be done with just one click. Yes, one click! We’re living in the future🚀.
They also introduced a totally new platform called Figma Slides, which is quite helpful for designing slides.
Additionally, they made some improvements to existing features. For example, Developer Mode has been enhanced, Auto Layout will be easier, and you can create responsive prototypes, and many other updates.

Holy Figma!! Did 2024 just become the year of AI design superpowers? ⚡
Last year, we were flooded with amazing tools and plugins, and just when I thought I'd begin to get a hang of some of them, Figma drops its own AI in at Config 2024!
Is this some kind of beautiful design dream?
Okay, maybe I'm a tad late to the party, but the hype is REAL.Figma, you've got me buzzing with excitement (and a touch of positive-anxiety, if that's a thing) about all the incredible changes on the horizon.
Time to level up our skills. 🔥🔥
P.S Also love the meta joke about re-designing figma in figma😅

It’s #Config time, and we’re here to share our takes on Figma’s keynote announcements.
😍 The good:
- We’re loving Figma slides, which is packed with beautiful features, like the tone adjustment modal.
- We can finally bypass auto layout with control.
Other common requests, however, were ignored: it’s still not possible to edit text in bulk or lock the aspect ratio of images. We think that jumping on the AI-bandwagon divided Figma’s focus. Speaking of which…
🙃 The bad:
- The AI tools aren’t quite there yet. Speeding up manual tasks like inserting placeholder copies is super useful, but the critical parts of the job should still be done by humans. At UX studio, we won’t be using the “create design” button: AI is not yet great at meeting user goals and keeping constraints in mind, or thinking for itself.
- The UI update felt a bit unnecessary. While simplifying Figma is a common request, we’re not sure that the unfamiliar icons and floating sidebars will help. (Also, why was it presented in light mode?)
😬 The ugly:
- The dev mode was kind of a letdown. There are simply not enough status indicators: besides “ready for development,” there should be stuff like “work in progress” or “code needs update.” The code integration feature is cool though.
Thanks to Janka Holicska and Laura Sima for their insights!

Figma is in the spotlight today, and rightfully so! I'm excited to dive into some of the standout updates that were announced at #Config2024:
UI3 Redesign: Figma has launched UI3, a major overhaul of its interface. The fresh, intuitive look is set to make our design workflows smoother and more enjoyable. I can't wait to dive in. And I've already signed up for the waitlist.
Figma AI: Figma AI is here and it's a game-changer! From generating designs and prototypes to visual searching and replacing content. Plus, renaming layers just got a whole lot easier!
Figma Slides: The need to switch between various tools is a thing of the past (I previously used Figma for slides, but now the process will be even smoother) — we can now design, refine, and present entirely within Figma.

Awesome day attending Figma’s conference #Config2024!
As we all have been talking about, Figma has launched a bunch of implementations including AI features, Figma slides, auto-layout improvements and a new UI.
I’m particularly interested in learning to use AI tools to optimize repetitive work, while focusing on research, strategy and problem-solving, which are the soul of a design project.
These new features sound super exciting and it seems that Figma has been taking notes of our needs. Great text tools, using auto-complete AI and translations to multiple languages, also the ‘’remove background’’ feature that seems relatively simple but will save me a lot of time by doing this in one click and not relying on Photoshop!
And, finally, a feature that allows us to rename layers in 20 seconds! Of course these are tools that won’t save all of our problems, but definitely they show the potential to make them much easier! Glad to have been watching these panels with wonderful professionals :)

Back home from Figma#Config and wow am I feeling so inspired and re-energized. Had a wonderful time in all the sessions and meeting so many talented designers.
Best part is running into former colleagues like Drew Little and catching up!
In a world filled with AI tools, the messaging from speakers like Reginé Gilbert, Nashilu Mouen Makoua, Raphael Schaad, and Pablo Sánchez to develop your personal story and style, to listen to yourself, is the most valuable tool you as a designer can have in your kit.
