Why do smaller law firms often consider the option of being acquired? Challenging economic circumstances, such as increased interest rates, rising energy and insurance costs, can create a compelling environment for smaller firms to relinquish their independence and explore mergers. Additionally, due to the perception of higher credit risk associated with smaller businesses, accessing affordable financing becomes a more significant challenge compared to their larger counterparts. Despite these factors, not all small firms readily embrace the idea of merging. Some are hesitant if they believe that the culture of a larger company doesn't align with their own. Another consideration is the personalized service that clients often appreciate from smaller practices. The fear of disrupting the strong and individualized relationships established with clients may deter some firms from merging with larger entities.
