In her latest for The Drinks Business, Contributor Kathleen Willcox poses the question, “Does Chablis Hold the Magic Formula for Wine Success?” President Rocco Lombardo weighs in on the momentum and success of the region: “The perceived value of Chablis when compared to the Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru white Burgundy offerings from the Cote de Beaune are providing the region with great momentum,” noting that annual releases from Domaine Laroche and Domaine Billaud-Simon sell out within a ten-month period. Read more about how LAROCHE and #DomaineBillaudSimon are reaching more consumers over in The Drinks Business. https://lnkd.in/e-Gz9b5v
Economic uncertainties, such as inflation and interest rate hikes, have hurt with a 10% drop in shipments for Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru to the globally. Left leaning govt in France and a proposed wealth tax doesn't help.

1moChablis is definitely outselling other fine regions in Burgundy. It’s affordability and familiarity (customers can actually pronounce it) along with its charm, is allowing Chablis to have a starring moment. Kudos to the classic producers like Domaine Laroche and Domaine Billaud-Simon, but also to smaller/newer producers such as Céline and Frédéric Guegen (both with family roots in Chablis, Celine’s father is Jean-Marc Brocard) and Vincent Dampt (father Daniel Dampt). Excited to see where this next generation and young producers take Chablis over the next decade.
