Building the Quadrotarium: With colleagues Abhinandan Krishnan and Prajwal Bhaskar Bharadwaj, I'm building a remotely accessible testbed for quadrotor swarms as my capstone project, advised by Dr Sean Wilson in the Robotarium. UAV research requires significant investments in terms of manpower and resources to competitively participate. We believe that anyone with new, amazing ideas should be able to see their algorithms deployed on real robots, free of cost. In order to make this vision a reality, we're creating a remote-access, robotics lab where anyone can upload and test their ideas on real robotic hardware. Our research team from Autonomous Robotics Research Center (ARRC), led by Dr. Giovanni P. Technical Director, has helped develop an open-design, fully annotated dataset for fast and agile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Serving as a tool to fairly compare qualitative results and advancements in the UAV space by different research teams, the dataset captures aggressive autonomous piloted flights, high-resolution and high-frequency visual, inertial, and motion capture data, as well as command and control inputs.
