In the last post, we described some basic circuit simulations and initial measurements. In this next chapter, we'll explore the initial measurements and investigate the change in frequency as a function of temperature. https://bit.ly/47rAKIQ #APNProud #AWSPartnerNetwork #Engineering #ProductDevelopment #AWSPartners

Acronym clash of the day To most Americans on the West Coast, SLC is the short name for Salt Lake City. But if you focus in to Silicon Valley, to the Ampere Computing headquarters, you will find it more often to mean System Level Cache. Probably better called something like Per-Socket Cache or P-Cache or something that indicates it is for the whole System-On-A-Chip instead of an individual core. SOACC is just dumb, and not a TLA. For cargo helicopters, SLC means Sling-Load-Capacity. Exceed this and you are not going anywhere. In electrical engineering I hear it is used to mean straight-line-capacitance which I am sure must have messed up at least one of our chip designers. But that is for big power lines, not little ones like we have on a chip, right? And, of course, in sales, it means Service Level Commitment. We all knew that, right?

PCB Design for EMC: It's All About the Space I don't think this presentation from Sierra Circuits received enough attention. I recommend all electronic hardware engineers watch it. Especially because the presenters are some of the best in this field: - Rick Hartley - Kenneth Wyatt - Daniel Beeker Some will learn new things, while others will hopefully only refresh their knowledge. Nonetheless, I think this presentation is yet another great demonstration of how, as PCB designers, we have to think in terms of fields. If you are not yet familiar with the work of Ralph Morrison, you will also benefit from being introduced to some of his concepts here. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/evnDZGRq I hope you enjoy, Dario #fresuelectronics #pcbdesign #electronics #hardware #EMC #EMI P.S. Solutions for power conversion switching analysis https://lnkd.in/gvqZX8vc To maximize a power converter’s performance and efficiency, a common practice is to increase the switching frequency. When increasing a power design’s switching speed, the timing characteristics, interactions between high and low side transistors, and undesired outcomes such as shoot-through and excessive EMI must be accounted for. Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes, power probes, and software enables power designers to characterize and optimize their designs. White paper: Switching analysis https://lnkd.in/gXX3ZFef Testing power converter designs for reliability is crucial, especially in safety-critical automotive, aerospace, and defense systems. Dynamic factors like component operation points, such as the DC-bias characteristic of MLCCs, and load-dependent resonances, like those seen in body diodes, must be considered. Components also shift with aging and temperature changes. High test coverage is essential to characterize converters under various loads and environments, accounting for transient behavior. This white paper https://lnkd.in/gXX3ZFef explores probing, switching analysis, and reliability testing methods in depth.
