White varietal wines are known as the trademark of Styria. Discover more about white wines and grape varieties in the Styrian region ⬇️ Styrian white wines are known for their delicacy, distinctive varietal aromas and freshness due to higher acidity and moderate alcohol levels. Most of the white grape varieties are international and have been present in the area since 1822. Key white grape varieties in Styria are Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Furmint, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Yellow Muscat. Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Muscat Ottonell and some other varieties can also be found in the region. A varied and elaborate varietal profile, lively acids and wines that are fully mature with moderate alcohol levels are Styria's trump card and a hard match to find in the world. 🥂🌎 #wine #winesofslovenia #winesofstyria #winetourism #winery #winelover #vineyard #vines #vino #styria #grapevariety

Step #5 Wines of the World: Canada Seven years ago, my spouse and I visited Austria where we discovered Ice Wine, a cherished souvenir among many. It was my first introduction to the unique method of producing this noble drink—leaving grapes on the vine to freeze (-7 degrees Celsius or lower) before harvesting and pressing them. Unsurprisingly, the pioneers of Ice Wine production in Canada had roots in Germany and Austria. Crafting such a sweet wine demands significant effort, battling hungry birds, warm winters, lower yields compared to regular grapes, and the typical upkeep of vineyards. Some winemakers have even relocated their vineyards to mountainous regions in pursuit of subzero temperatures. The production process itself involves working in cold rooms, harvesting at night or dawn. These factors contribute to the high cost of Ice Wine, typically bottled in 375ml or 200ml sizes. Such is the nature of this dessert wine, Ice Wine. #WineJourney #WineLife #WineBlog #Journey1000steps

Hot Sacramento in the Central Valley California is of course a famous wine region. No less than 50% of the wine growing takes place here. The large Inland Valley, also called the Central Valley, is particularly productive. Everything grows and blooms here; two-thirds of all fruits and nuts in the United States come from here. This also includes grapes for both currants and wine. The warm Central Valley can be divided into the northern Sacramento Valley and the southern San Joaquin Valley. The largest agricultural activity takes place in the southern region. The Central Valley is approximately 650 km long and has a diverse soil structure. It is a former ocean floor that has created a marine deposit. Together with the erosion of the surrounding mountain ranges, an extremely fertile soil has been created. To the east lie the Sierra Nevadas while to the west the Coast Ranges with the Central Coast region. In short, Sacramento Valley Sacramento Valley is not particularly extensive when it comes to wine. And unfortunately, these wines are not easily available outside the region. These are mainly wines made from grape varieties that appreciate warmth, such as Syrah, Tempranillo, but also Malbec and Chenin Blanc. Today is International Viognier Day, celebrated on last Friday in April every year. Viognier is pronounced as Vee-own-yay. Viognier is a textural white wine that originated in the historic appellation of Condrieu in Southern France. Defined by its perfumed aromas, Viognier produces some of the greatest white wines in the world. On the nose, Viognier is very aromatic with rich aromas of tangerine, mango, honeysuckle, rose & peach. Oaked versions will also have subtle vanilla and smoked aromas. Even though Viognier is fruity, it isn't very sweet and considered dry white or semi-sweet wine. So if you like full-bodied Chardonnay, you’ll like Viognier. Serving Viognier with herbs and potatoes would be a lovely match with a vibrant neutral oaked Viognier. Trivia about Viognier: Ø Viognier is originally from the Northern Rhone. Ø France has the most amount of Viognier in the world. Ø Viognier is often blended with Syrah to add complexity and stabilize Syrah’s color. Ø It can be crafted into a wide range of styles from light to full-bodied. Ø Viognier has low yields so it becomes difficult to cultivate. In fact it was almost extinct in the 1980s.

🍇 What are the stories behind family-owned Canadian wineries❓ https://lnkd.in/gVW4X4Bu 🌱 There are four major regions in Canada that produce wines made from grapes: BC, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. 🍷 Ontario makes about 63% of the wine, BC 33% and 2% for each of Quebec and NS, with more than 700 wineries from coast to coast and 1,800 grape growers. 💰 Every bottle of 100% Canadian wine contributes $90 to the national economy versus just $16 for an imported bottle. 🏞️ Pride of place literally grounds them all. Often the land on which their vineyards are planted is owned by the family, in some cases for several generations. 🌿 I should also add that they all acknowledge that they farm on the traditional territories of our Indigenous nations. 🌍 Being deeply connected to the soil that makes your wine, especially when your name is on the bottle, is a very different mindset from wines conceived in a focus group and made by blending grapes that may be hundreds or thousands of kilometres apart without that connection. 🌳 Family-owned wineries are often driven more by legacy than by the bottom line. 🏆 Of course, they need to be profitable to stay in business, but they also want to create something they can hand down to future generations. 📦 These wineries will ship these wines and others they produce across the country right to your doorstep, so there’s never been a better time or an easier way to support our homegrown farmers from coast to coast on July 1st and throughout the summer! 🍁 Do you have a favourite Canadian wine❓ Let me know in the comments 👇 Cheers🥂, Natalie 🍷 PS Get my free "Ultimate Guide to Wine & Food Pairing" at: https://lnkd.in/ghiPfx_F ✉️ Or just DM me and ask for the guide! One of the most underrated wines in Italy today! 🍷🍇 Granted, we’re not speaking of the ocean of mass-produced Lambrusco that hails from the alluvial plains of the Po Valley and is made in large industrial wineries. Instead, the Emilia portion of the region has a lot to offer wine lovers. Emilia is experiencing a surge in high-quality Lambrusco produced in styles from Secco (dry) to Amabile (semisweet) and Dolce (sweet). These are artisanal products made in much smaller batches or created using Metodo Classico (Champenois Method). Moreover, they are some of the best food-pairing wines on earth, which makes sense, considering that Emilia is considered to be one of the food capital of Italy. #cletochiarli #modena #napavalley #italianwine #lambrusco #wine #winery

2020, Maison Foucher, Le Mont, Sancerre, Loire Valley, France @maisonfoucher Maison Foucher was established in 1921 at the heart of the Centre Loire vineyard, between Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre; where they produce some beautiful wines. The wine has aged for 10 months on lees. Le Mont Sancerre is pretty much their flagship wine. Tasting Notes Appearance: Pale yellow Nose: Very clean flavors of lime, nectarine, orange zest, pear, bread and, mineral notes. Palate: The wine is dry, medium bodied wine with racy acidity. The fresh citrus and mineral notes show well on the palate. A long and crisp finish. Pairing: A match made in heaven with oysters, and goat cheese. Goes well with other shellfish, fresh and fatty white fish preparations
