In honor of Juneteenth, Wingstop celebrates 59 years of freedom, resilience and continued actions for equality. The holiday marks the day when federal troops arrived in Wingstop’s founding state of Texas in 1865 to ensure that all enslaved people were freed. This year, we celebrated Juneteenth with our team members by learning about the history of the Juneteenth flag and its traditions, and enjoyed Smith Spot BBQ - a local Black-owned business that serves their signature flavor. #Juneteenth#FreedomDay#WingstopTeam
KSM is closed today in honor of Juneteenth. Two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, with news of freedom for those still enslaved. Today, we reflect on history and celebrate freedom for all. Learn more about #Juneteeth at https://hubs.ly/Q02CfRCz0
It's never too early to be thinking about #Juneteenth and how your organization can meaningfully observe the holiday. I shared some ideas and best practices on the Equity At Work blog:
#Juneteenth commemorates June 19th, 1865, when the Union Army arrived in Galveston, TX and announced that all enslaved people in Confederate states were free. Government's Role in Promoting Equality vs. Military Spending In today's complex world, the balancing act between promoting social equality and maintaining robust military capabilities is more relevant than ever. On one hand, investing in equality initiatives can lead to a more just and cohesive society, where opportunities are accessible to all, and the social fabric is strengthened. On the other hand, a strong military is essential for national security, protecting our freedoms, and ensuring peace through deterrence.
The debate isn't about choosing o
We learn and grow through building self-awareness, in behavioural competence and emotional intelligence, by understanding and comprehending that hate, racism, exclusion, and ableism, drag everyone down in a race to the bottom.
There are innumerable negative consequences when we lack compassion for ourselves and Others.
We reach our collaborative and infinite human potential by realizing that we are all worthy, dignified, awesome, integral, wonderful, intelligent, effortful, and capable Human Beings.
Apologize when you have wronged another Person: Aim at taking absolute personal and professional responsibility for your own goodness of being human and we will attain the available betters in creating a completely caring, loving, equal, and respectfully good society.
We rise by lifting and supporting Others.

Today, I was deeply moved by the courage displayed by those who testified at the hearing for the proposed class action lawsuit tackling racism in the Canadian Forces. This lawsuit aims to address and combat the racism that many members have faced within the Forces.
As someone who has experienced racism in uniform, hearing your testimonies made me feel less alone. Your bravery in sharing your stories is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable environment for all of us. I hope that by speaking out, you find some measure of healing.

On this day, we commemorate the courage and sacrifice of those who fought on D-Day, June 6, 1944. The beaches of Normandy witnessed an extraordinary display of courage and commitment as Allied soldiers started a vital offensive against fascist tyranny. Many of those brave troops came from North Carolina, and their dedication and valor helped to make this historic mission a success.
D-Day is more than just a historical event; it is a stark warning of the stakes when democracy is threatened. Today, as we see the consolidation of worldwide fascist authoritarian movements, the lessons of D-Day are more relevant. These groups undermine the basic principles of democracy, encouraging hatred and division rather than unity and freedom.
My work with the Bridging Divides Initiative includes researching, monitoring, and analyzing authoritarian and antidemocratic movements. The sacrifices made by troops on D-Day are a source of hope and a call to action for all of us. We must be watchful, defend democratic values, and ensure that the liberties for which they fought so bravely are preserved for future generations.
In North Carolina, a state with a strong history of service and sacrifice, we are inspired by those who have come before us. Their legacy urges us to resist oppression and work ceaselessly for a society governed by democracy, fairness, and equality.
Let us honor their legacy by recommitting to the ongoing struggle for liberty and democracy.

JLP40 was the culmination of 7 years of hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit to help transform families nationwide through our highly skilled and passionate veteran community. @senatorjacquilambie is now a part of the @veteranmentors family due to our shared values, military background, and shared passion for this country’s youth.
Leadership comes in many forms, from delegating to hard work and setting an example. Jacqui’s leadership is like no other. To have one of the most popular Australian Senators spend 9 days on the program and take the washing burden off the mentors was a very surreal moment and one the team will never forget. Seventy kids’ uniforms and PT clothes washed daily, plus all 24 of the staff, meant she was up at 0530 working on the program and working well past 0100 every night washing without missing out on her picquet.
When asked to abseil by a participant, even though it was clear her back was giving her misery like all us vets, she pushed through regardless. That was an experience she wasn’t going to deny this participant, regardless of any pain or discomfort.
Find me one other Senator that would do this and put herself through such discomfort just to bond with the veteran community and transform the lives of children on the frontlines.
Jacqui, I am honored to have served alongside you those last 9 days, and the whole crew at Veteran Mentors looks at you as a sister. The amazing reputation you have and work ethic is really second to none. A true Aussie hero.
One of many magical moments is when Jacqui listened to Caitlin’s story around the fire the same story she shared with the Royal commission into veteran suicide which will be apart of Jacqui’s legacy.

Juneteenth
On June 19, 1865 the Union Army arrived in Texas and notified Texas officials that slavery was officially over. Even though the institution of slavery had existed for millennia, our nation’s birth happened at a time that world consciousness finally began to see it as unacceptable —thank God! Imagine being born in a time when slavery was just a part of life? How we have grown as a planet. And each generation will continue to grow. Ending the institution of slavery in America came at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives, but it was the price that the supporters of slavery required. And it was the price anti-slavery soldiers paid…a necessary sacrifice for ending an evil institution that existed for thousands of years in world history at-large. #freedom#antislavery#EmancipationDay
On this, I do have a theory about how our future decendants will judge first world countries for outsourcing to less developed nations for cheaper labor. Mark my words. Today’s world will be judged by tomorrow’s world for it.
Is it voluntary work if it's mandatory? 💭
The Conservative Party's proposed National Service Plan suggests that all 18-year-olds in the UK should complete a year of community volunteering or military training. The goal is to foster civic duty and national pride.
My first thought was: Can mandatory service truly be labeled as 'voluntary' work?
What are your thoughts on the impact and implications of this initiative?
