Something very close to my heart, and this is the plethora (love that word) of candidates out there who have worked for themselves and now want to be part of a business again. Their key drivers are usually: Miss being part of a team 👨💼 👩💼 They love what they do, just do not like running the business side of things 🏢 💔 So if you're a Hiring Manager, just pause for a moment and reconsider the following. And PLEASE look past a bad CV, because trust me, the "employed" people also have a great selection of awful CV's as well. #selfemployed #recruitingtips #candidateexperience

🔍 𝐈𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞’𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞? As a recruiter and business assistant, I often see hiring managers hesitate when they notice frequent job changes on a CV. It’s a common red flag, but should it always be a deal-breaker? 🤔 In my experience, there’s often more to the story. Yes, multiple short-term jobs might raise concerns, but I’ve encountered candidates who had solid reasons for one or two brief stints—whether it’s a company restructuring, a mismatch in job expectations, or even personal growth decisions. When given the chance to explain, many of them brought valuable insights and contributions to the table. 💼 📉 Quick turnover doesn’t always equal poor performance. Judging purely based on a resume might mean overlooking someone who could be a perfect fit. It’s important to look beyond the surface and give candidates the space to clarify their unique circumstances. This doesn’t mean short-term roles should be ignored completely, but they shouldn’t automatically disqualify a candidate either. Sometimes, a simple conversation can reveal a highly skilled professional with the right motivation for your team. 🚀 #Recruitment #WorkplaceCulture #CareerAdvice

*TUESDAY TIP* Whether you’re a candidate looking for a job or an employer looking for a new employee, a compliment can be an ice breaker. Commenting on someone’s impeccable resume presentation can disarm them and make them feel more comfortable. Complimenting an employer’s office or commenting on how impressed you are with how they do business, a sincere compliment can build confidence and rapport. Don’t be shy - be genuine and give a compliment! #tuesday #tuesdaytip #recruiter #jobseekers #aimhigh #moveupward #upwardon

CV's Gaps or Job hoppers, I was talking to a client this week and they expressed a concern about candidates in the market in the at the moment and the amount of time and the amount of roles they had in a short space of time. 🕰️ However I countered this by saying that the majority of the time there is reason for this, and what I said that I am hearing more about Lack of Support or decisions being taken for the wrong reasons which are having a negative effect on the services that they run. So before you dismiss someone from your process, do a bit of research in to the company! 🤔 #recruiting #Socialcare #research

Executive Search Recruiter | Leadership & Career Coach | Wife & Mom to Littles | Homeschool Teacher | Always running on Coffee & Jesus! #FindYourVillage #YouBelongHere
I love helping people who want to help themselves… My entire career, I stand by this statement (also in my personal life)… it motivates me, inspires me, drives me, and fills an aspect of my cup helping people. It’s why I was in Ops Leadership in customer driven environments for so long, and why my teams consistently grew, exceeded expectations and promoted quickly! But there was still that ONE who had an excuse for everything single thing their leader recommended. Excuses why it won’t work, why it would take too long, why it’s a waste of effort, why it’s not the right way, and inevitably those people would eliminate themselves from their own job because they wouldn’t put in the effort or work to succeed. They didn’t even try the new thing, they only had their excuses to keep themselves stuck. As a recruiter, I LOVE helping people get to the next step in their career, coaching them after my interview with them, so they are better prepared to step in front of the hiring team and they know the areas they are missing the mark and can improve. I love directing candidates to jobs that would be a better fit for them and making introductions for those opportunities. I love giving resume feedback and suggestions so they can better showcase their awesome qualities! But then there’s still that candidate who doesn’t take the feedback and coaching and makes the same mistakes in front of the hiring manager and their journey trying to get that job- comes to an end. Because they showcased they were NOT COACHABLE! I recently had a resume client hire me to write their resume. This person was looking for a C-suite or Board seat opportunity. I regularly write resumes that help people elevate themselves to the next level in their career (senior manager to director, director to group director, director to vp, vp to senior vp or vp to evp for example), this person was trying to make a leap from Director to C-Suite/Board seat without the necessary experience, and they thought by hiring me, they could tell me to lie about their experience to make it appear they could do the job. Nope! I’m not your girl! You see, I regularly source for Leadership talent at the executive level (for both multi national corporations and smaller start ups) and this person was NOT QUALIFIED to do that job. I LOVE elevating people (through their resume) so they can grab that next step in their career that they are clearly qualified for, ready for, and deserve! I enjoy telling that story for them on their resume. I will NOT, however, lie for someone on their resume. I love helping people who want to help themselves. Every time! But they also have to put in the work and yes, it takes work to advance, to career pivot, to grow (both professionally and personally)… so whether it’s resume work, coaching work, career advancement coaching, job search work, or anything else… I cannot do all of the work for you. They have to be willing to also help themselves… Your Coach, AK
