3 Tips for Navigating Art Fairs Like a Pro Attending art fairs can be a game-changer for collectors, whether you're just starting or looking to expand your collection. Here are three tips to help you get the most out of your experience: 1️. Do Your Homework: Research the fair’s exhibitors and artists in advance. Knowing who will be there allows you to plan your visit and target the booths that align with your interests. 2️. Engage and Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to strike up conversations with gallery representatives and artists. Asking about the artworks, artists’ backgrounds, and the inspiration behind the pieces can provide valuable context and might even lead to unique opportunities. 3️. Document Your Favorites: With so much to see, it’s easy to forget what caught your eye. Take notes and photos (when allowed) of artworks and artist details to help you reflect and make informed decisions after the fair. Art fairs are an incredible opportunity to discover new talent, learn from industry insiders, and expand your art knowledge. Dive in with a plan, be curious, and enjoy the experience! #ArtFairTips #CollectingArt #ArtMarket #EmergingArtists #ArtCollector #ArtAdvisory

Small galleries are the driving force in the arts ecosystem: introducing emerging artists to the market, cultivating new collectors, and maintaining creative culture throughout towns and cities worldwide. However, due to challenges like high rental costs, working with limited budgets and resources, scaling a small gallery can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task. I sat down with Erin Schuppert, the fair director of Affordable Art Fair New York, on a webinar last week to explore these key challenges and how Artlogic and Affordable Art Fair are helping galleries scale.
