As #RefractiveSurgeons committed to enhancing the vision of our patients, it is essential that we keep up with any advances that may have a big influence on our work.
I'd like to highlight the remarkable advancements in vision correction through Phakic Intraocular Lenses (IOLs).
For individuals with high refractive problems who might not be good candidates for cornea-based operations, phakic IOLs provide a revolutionary option. These lenses are made to fit inside the eye while protecting the natural lens and preserving the integrity of the ocular structure.
Key benefits of Phakic IOLs include:
✨ High predictability and precision in refractive outcomes
✨ Preservation of corneal biomechanics, particularly beneficial for patients with thin corneas
✨ Reversibility—providing an option for patients who may require future refractive adjustments
✨ Expanded treatment options for a wider range of refractive errors
Phakic IOLs are a crucial addition to our toolkit as we keep patient happiness and safety as our top priorities. The fact that they can cure astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia while preserving ocular stability highlights their importance in modern ophthalmic practice.
I encourage you to engage in discussions about Phakic IOLs within our community. Share your experiences, insights, and patient success stories to further enrich our collective knowledge and enhance patient care.

Reverse Chop Phaco In Total White Cataract HD( Unedited)
Hello everyone, I'm Dr. Sudhir Singh. Today, I will demonstrate my reverse chop phacoemulsification technique for a white cataract. This case involves a total white cataract, and I will walk you through each step of the procedure."
**Procedure Steps:**
"We begin by creating two side ports and staining the capsule with trypan blue dye. The anterior chamber is then filled with viscoelastic to maintain its stability. Next, we perform capsulorhexis using a 26-gauge needle, ensuring a clean and precise opening."
"A 2.8 mm main port is made, followed by hydro dissection to mobilize the nucleus, allowing it to rotate freely within the capsular bag."
"Using the reverse chop phacoemulsification technique, we manage the nucleus by segmenting and emulsifying it one by one, minimizing trauma to the surrounding tissues."
"Once the nucleus is fully emulsified, we proceed with bimanual irrigation and aspiration to clean the capsular bag thoroughly. A foldable intraocular lens (IOL) is then implanted into the bag and positioned correctly."
"Finally, we thoroughly wash away the viscoelastic from the anterior chamber and ensure that all ports are sealed securely. The procedure concludes with a final inspection to confirm the stability and safety of the surgical site."
"Thank you for joining me in this demonstration of the reverse chop phacoemulsification technique for white cataract. If you found this video informative, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more surgical insights and educational content. Until next time, stay informed and keep learning!"

Striatal acetylcholine (ACh) has been linked to behavioral flexibility. CRN Team Cragg utilized array fiber photometry in mice to investigate how ACh release across the striatum evolves during learning and extinction of Pavlovian associations. This study identified spatially organized ACh signals during different phases of the behavioral task. Check out their findings in the #preprint here: https://lnkd.in/e7EcdAzs
