Winrock International celebrates #Juneteenth, a U.S. federal holiday commemorating the date – June 19, 1865 – that enslaved people learned of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation. This celebration is not only a recognition of freedom but a call to action for continued progress towards racial equity and justice. Winrock is committed to supporting Black-owned businesses in the U.S. through a range of public- and private-sector partnerships and projects including the Multicultural Business Xcellerator funded by the Walton Family Foundation, the Gulf of Mexico Historically Underserved Farmer to Farmer Grants program implemented by the Wallace Center and funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and previous Winrock U.S. initiatives including the Southern Opportunity & Resilience Fund. These and other programs aim to expand business support services, accelerate entrepreneurship and financing, and create equitable opportunities for Black-owned and other under-resourced businesses and communities in the U.S. Happy Juneteenth! #FreedomDay #SupportBlackBusiness #CelebrateFreedom #Juneteenth2024

Stray thoughts that flowed through my ears and then whirled in my head as we discussed weaving more #networks of networks committed to supporting a just, sustainable, democratically/locally-owned and operated regional food system grounded in #trust: 🔆 organizing around #food really does create capacity for other conversations to happen (literally as in breaking bread together but also food truly does connect to everything else!); 🔆 there is a massive gap around information #flows in/and around networks in our region (meaning we need more crucial information moving in care-fully curated ways, and we need more people understanding networks and their roles in them!); 🔆 we have look to create more space, and more diverse space, in "the middle" (for example, between state government and local communities); that will be how #change happens ... 🔆 for example, we might use the existing model in Vermont of stipending temporary work to move massive resources through state systems (connects to the idea of rotational #sharedleadership) ... 🔆 we need to help build up "community soil" so we can get more resources to the roots in a way that does not deluge them; 🔆 to this end, ⬆ we might build on existing #communityorganizing infrastructure to disburse information and funding ... 🔆 ... and The New England Grassroots Fund is a model in our region for “regranting” and peer review processes that others could adopt in local #communities; 🔆 AND we have to help "backbone organizations" of different kinds understand how to build #trust/#relationship and then what to do with them (or THAT you can do things with them! - this would truly be a “game changer"

To celebrate Indigenous People's Day and its true significance being held on Columbus day... is that Columbus landed on the Island of Puerto Rico, and the Spanish raided and pillaged from that Island on. The Indigenous people of Puerto Rico where the Taino's. There is a Taino Heritage Site in Utando, Puerto Rico. The Nonprofit I founded Succor Solutions, is working on several Puerto Rico Census Bureau's Opportunity Sprints: 1) Tracking Federal Funding Impact in Puerto Rico 2) Financing For Innovation and Technology Transfer in Puerto Rico 3) Reducing the Financial Literacy Gap in Puerto Rico 4) Improving Access to Capital in Indigenous Communities through Data! Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! ;-)

"Beginning in 2023, NDN Collective will begin dispersing a $50 million Community Trust Fund from the Bush Foundation". The NDN Collective, will disperse $50 Million on behalf of the Bush Foundation to #indigenous communities throughout #minnesota, #northdakota, and #southdakota. The same Bush Foundation was founded by Archibald Bush who made his fortune from 3M a company that helped to create #foreverchemicals and the #pfas industry while he, Archibald Bush, was an executive, which impacts us all including disproportionately #indiancountry. Maybe its just a #coincidence that the Bush Foundation decided to "give" some in #indiancountry $50 Million the same year that 3M has started to settle #foreverchemicals and #pfas lawsuits to the tune of billions of dollars. Maybe not. NDN Collective also according to their Impact Report receives $$ from the McKnight Foundation, founded by William McKnight, who also made his fortune from 3M. #pfas #foreverchemicals #3m #indiancountry #minnesota #northdakota #southdakota #tribe #tribes #tribal #indigenous #indigenouscommunities #tribalcommunities #indiancommunities #greenwashing #coincidence #bushfoundation #mcknightfoundation #ndn #ndncollective #ngo #ngos #litigation #pollution #chemicals #liability #philanthropy #philanthropies #nativephilanthropy #nativegiving #giving #tribalphilanthropy #gives https://lnkd.in/gMu3XbAG
