A shocking, eye opening and much needed report looking into violence towards women and girls published by the NPCC this morning. What stands out most to me is the recognition that the number of women experiencing these behaviours and crimes is likely to be much higher than stated. We know that these crimes often go unreported due to fear of not being taken seriously, a lack of consequences for perpetrators, and a widespread normalisation in society. There are some fantastic actions listed in this report which the NPCC plans to put into place to tackle violence towards women and girls - I just hope that they stick to these commitments and make a real difference. It’s great to see more and more public bodies and agencies raising awareness of this issue, and I hope that the publication of this and future studies means that women and girls feel more and more empowered to report these experiences in the future. https://lnkd.in/exK9zmbM

Today there was the release of a report that quantifies and highlights part of the epidemic of violence against women and girls in the UK. It's vitally important that the preventative work is done to end this violence. I've been talking about Beyond Equality's part in that work, deconstructing and disrupting norms that promote violence, or excuse misogyny, or reproduce a sense of male entitlement to sex. I've also been talking about why we approach this as a positive step for men and boys. Our approach starts from the perspective that they can and should have access to education on how to form healthy relationships and encourage consent. This will help them and their partners stay safer. Our experience shows us how closely the ideas that encourage men to harass women are to the ideas that make (the same or other) men feel worthless and alone; and that the development of men's emotional expression and empathy for others can be part of addressing both issues. Hopefully, we can see a commitment of resources to tackling this issue consistently, and not just a spike in interest when GBV is in the media.
“3,000 offences recorded each day, 1 in 12 women victims each year.” A report has come out this morning from the NPCC (police) about VAWG particularly about misogynistic attitudes. It calls for explicit education for boys to counter the influence of misogynistic influencers on social media and the prevention work that is the key to this. This is a crucial piece of information, it’s really important to see the report and really see the vast size of this problem. We need to deal with this problem as a public issue, where we are: 💜 We are focusing on prevention, 💜 We are looking at education, 💜 We are looking at measures of better regulation of social media and that industry “Evidence shows many of these perpetrators will have touch points with a number of agencies outside of policing through their life, presenting opportunities for intervention”. At Beyond Equality we are working collectively across these issues with teachers and schools, parents as well as workplaces. Our schools project takes us into schools working with groups of boys. We help them to explore the questions they have about relationships and how that relates to them; their identities and place in the world. This is so that we fill that vacuum that otherwise social media misogyny influencers are stepping into -because those influencers are essentially providing answers that the boys are seeking- answers that we can provide in much better, healthier ways as an organisation, and as individuals. We approach our conversations with boys with fun and compassion, exploration. It’s really important in prevention work to find that balance between compassion and accountability. We want to be treating boys with empathy, without judgement-all the while so they learn to take accountability for their actions. Daniel Guinness spoke about this on BBC Studios 5 live this morning and is on Novara Media Live at 4pm as well as BBC World Series at 8pm. This is shockingly abhorrent. The Biden Administration just told the military YOU are a terrorist.A training program at a major military installation was just exposed calling pro-life Americans terrorists. In fact, on its "Terrorist Groups" slide – just after ISIS – it lists the National Right to Life (which organizes the March for Life each year), Operation Rescue, pro-life sidewalk counselors (who we represent at the Supreme Court), and even anyone who has a "Choose Life" license plate. It's outrageous, but it's what we've been warning was coming. The Biden Administration and the radical Left are weaponizing the government to target, prosecute, and demonize pro-life Americans. If we're silenced, then the abortion industry can continue aborting unborn children.Today, we're taking urgent legal action. They've been caught, and they're already claiming this was from some rogue official with an unvetted slide. We've defeated their cover-ups before, and we'll do it again. We're about to file a FOIA request to find out how far and wide this goes. And if they don't respond immediately, we'll file a lawsuit in federal court. We're already fighting at the Supreme Court to defund Planned Parenthood and defend pro-lifers in two major cases. But we urgently need your support as we go up against Biden's limitless resources in court.Have your gift DOUBLED today through our Life & Liberty Drive.Have Your Gift Doubled To Defeat Abortion.Take action with us to defeat Biden's policy war on life and defend unborn babies today.Sign: Defeat Biden's Policy War on Unborn Babies.Jordan Sekulow ACLJ Executive Director

Adapting to Change: Lessons from a Modified Research Lab Turned Prison In the video, the speaker emphasizes the importance of staying alert and paying attention to details in a research lab turned prison. The lab was originally used for medical research, but has since been modified by Irons for unknown purposes. The key to survival lies in keeping calm, waiting for opportunities, and making the most of any potential advantages that arise in the intense and uncertain situation. #USmarines #advancedwarfare #USMC

Ever wonder how Gender Based Analysis Plus works in real life or why we still need it for all government research, policy, programs and benefits? Here is a 5 min video explaining its importance for approaching one of many sex and gender specific medical issues - concussions. Something very unfortunately common in the Veteran world from military/combat related exposures, sports injuries and IPV issues. https://lnkd.in/g6JNdRcf

As Vice President Kamala Harris made clear at the White House event on Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) yesterday, more must be done to fortify systems in supporting survivors, collecting evidence and promoting investigations for CRSV. The newly launched Dignity in Documentation Initiative is a testament to the U.S. commitment to justice and accountability for CRSV. As we continue to integrate CRSV accountability into our policies and programming, we build upon the Biden-Harris initiatives to fight impunity for CRSV crimes and support the diverse needs of CRSV victims and survivors worldwide. From our support to the U.S.-UK-EU Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group for Ukraine to our recently launched program integrating survivor needs into transitional justice processes for individual or collective reparative measures, GCJ stands with CRSV victims and survivors on their journey toward justice and healing. https://lnkd.in/evuUNJ7R

📣 Last week, the last PBC #MENA meeting was held in Athens, marking the conclusion of three years of rich discussions, meetings and study visits between #Europe and the MENA region. ✍ Since its inception in 2022, based on #Italy’s initiative and supported by the European Commission, I have had the pleasure to work, under the umbrella of the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) Policy Support, on strengthening collaboration and exchanges between EU Member States and MENA countries across diverse thematic priority areas in #PCVE (terrorist content online, FTFs returnees, rehabilitation and reintegration approaches in prisons, etc). While the detailed analysis of all the findings and policy recommendations will be included in the forthcoming Consolidated Overview Paper, three key personal reflections deserve to stand out: 💡 Despite differences in national contexts, specifities and mechanisms (legislative, social, cultural, etc.) – paramount to be taken into account when working in PCVE – EU Member States and MENA countries need to build upon the transfer of good practices and lessons learned – as some core elements have proved fundamental to the design and successful implementation of #PCVE approaches, particularly in relation to those targeting secondary and tertiary interventions. 🤝 Cooperation between the EU and MENA regions is imperative in an ever-evolving #extremist threat landscape, with interlinked developments and common challenges across the two regions, especially at the level of the #repatriation, #rehabilitation and reintegration of #FTFs returnees and their families from the camps in Iraq. 🔁 The inclusion of local governments and actors in the design and implementation of P/CVE approaches is still somehow reluctant (despite differences across national contexts) both in EU MSs and MENA countries. Consolidating trust between state and local authorities for effective PCVE collaboration is crucial to foster a robust and sustainable P/CVE approach. 🔜 Collaboration between EU Member States and MENA countries, although no longer under the PBC format, will proceed under EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation, so stay tuned!

Today, we celebrate #NelsonMandelaDay, honoring the legacy of a global icon who fought for justice, equality, and human rights. Mandela's resilience and dedication remind us of the importance of standing up for the rights of all individuals, especially those who are most vulnerable. On this day, we would like to highlight the implementation and impact of Bill C-83, which aimed to introduce Structured Intervention Units (SIUs) as a replacement for solitary confinement in Canadian prisons. Bill C-83 was in part inspired by the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (known as the Mandela Rules), which we know are not being consistently upheld. As advocates for humane and informed corrections, we are committed to bringing attention to the policies, practices, and responsible leadership needed to foster safer communities. You can read our article on SIUs with the link in our bio. #MandelaDay #NelsonMandela
