I had a chance recently to interview AICPA president and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA about his long career and the many changes he has seen -- and personally initiated -- in the profession, and the details of his career are fascinating. To start -- he almost didn't become an accountant at all! He started college pre-law, and only took an accounting course because he thought the business background would help his law career.
