There's an easy and simple way to remember the basic strategies of controlling noise (and creating a comfortable and productive working environment) - and it starts with ABC. Last week we explained the A....ABSORPTION of sound waves before it reaches the listener’s ears, and now we move on to the B... B - BLOCKING the right amount of sound. This can be done by managing the noise and breaking up larger spaces using acoustically designed products in open plan spaces, for example. (www.resorb.co.uk). This will assist with stopping sound leaving, or entering, certain areas, thus creating quieter spaces. There is obviously much more to it than this - there has been a vast amount of studies and research done, so our qualified acousticians are much better placed to discuss the ABC along with the solutions to your particular workplace issues.
