Ok, I'll gladly believe it when I see it ... there were too many announcements previously that someone has mastered #fusion as an #energysolution which would truly revolutionize our entire planet, solving #climatecrisis and #globalwarming if rolled out at scale and provided there's enough fuel available to feed the fusion process. The Helion process is based on deuterium (D) which can be extracted from naturally occurring heavy water (HDO) by distillation or electrolysis, so the raw materials exist. The fusion process itself is contained within a magnetic field and starts with the production of Helium-3 via D-D fusion and then in a second step by a fusion of Helium-3 with another D. OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman is heavily invested in Helion, and having a first plant live in 2028 would be an incredible game changer, disrupting decades of physics research on fusion which so far has led to a lot of progress and understanding of the underlying physics - but no tangible result and no credible timeline for something useful in actual production of relatively clean energy. #alternativeenergy 12 https://lnkd.in/eynWqnXy

What good is a match if you're lighting soaking wet wood? All this article is talking about is the "match" for fusion. What about the fire after the "match"? Where is the fusion "fire"? It's never appeared. If anyone would look ar the last 70 years of creating fusion, they will see there is no "fire" because there is no natural catalyst for fusion. No matter how much juice the lasers have, the fire will always go out just like it always has. We are creating all the energy for fusion because nucleosynthesis requires energy. That's why the Big Bang Theory made up supernovae. Fusion doesn't work but fission does. Quark-electron plasma is the ultimate form of fission and it represents the energy that E=mc² suggests. Proof of quark-electron plasma comes from particle colliders and lightning creating gamma rays. Proof of fusion is from a theory that has been useless. Money is the only thing that makes fusion right.
