🙉 See No Justice, Hear No Justice! For those tuned in and watching last night’s first televised debate of the election campaign, you would have noted that no mention was made of the justice system or the state it’s in. The justice system, unlike education, defence, or the NHS, sits within a non-protected department and is likely to see further cuts to its funding. This cannot be right when our prisons are overcrowded, unprecedented backlogs of cases are waiting to be heard in our courts and tribunals—running into tens of thousands—court buildings are crumbling, and there is an increasing inability to access justice or exercise your legal rights. Whichever party wins the next general election, the choices the next government will face are stark, but not investing in or talking about the justice system or protecting it from more cuts further diminishes all of our legal rights, our safety and liberty. #legalrights #AccesstoJustice #Justice #investinjustice

As the Arizona Legislative session draws down, Elijah O. recaps important private prison contract reform efforts in the state: The two bills would have allowed more competition from start-ups like Social Purpose Corrections and introduced performance-based contracts. Think about this: Q. Why is Peter Navarro reporting to federal prison today for Contempt of Congress charges, when Hunter Biden and Erick Holder, who have been charged with Contempt of Congress, are still walking free? A. All Contempt of Congress charges are executed for follow-up and incarceration by the DOJ. Today, who owns the DOJ? The Obama 3.0 / Biden Admin. Hence, the two-tiered system of justice.

On March 29, 2024, President Biden issued a presidential proclamation marking April as Second Chance Month. Is your company re-entry friendly? Drop 👇 a comment below if so. America was founded on the promise of new beginnings. During Second Chance Month, we recommit to building a criminal justice system that lives up to those ideals so that people returning to their communities from jail or prison have a fair shot at the American Dream. Every year, more than 650,000 people are released from State and Federal prisons, some leaving with nothing more than a few dollars and a bus ticket to start their new lives. In total, over 70 million Americans have a criminal history record, which can make it hard to secure a steady job, safe housing, affordable health care, or a good education — all important things to have when trying to build a good life. Studies show that when these needs are met, we do not just empower formerly incarcerated people — we prevent crime and make our communities safer. - JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.
