While my inbox and calendar is 75% #JPM2025 right now (will you be there? Let’s talk!) I am already looking forward to March, and one of the most strategic meetings I attend all year. Everyone is seeing the #VBC wave slowly cresting. The percent of carrier payments tied to value and the percent of carrier payments in capitated risk structures are continuing to increase… just more slowly than we all thought. Meanwhile the good ole #CLFS fee schedule rates are continuing to go down, squeezing labs on their sole business model, fee for service. Let’s please not go gently into that (not good) night. Labs need to act NOW to transform how they communicate and generate value, and lead the conversation on value capture and revenue generation for their health systems. Fortunately #VBC provides ample opportunity to do this because the name of the game is “find the disease and treat it most effectively.” Labs are the pocket ace of how to make money in value based care. Join us in Chicago in March to discuss the why and how of this because the time is 100% NOW. America’s leading health system labs, IVD manufacturers, and renowned value based care payers in a room together hashing it out for the future. Let’s do this thing.
We are excited to announce a special #Payer Panel to conclude our #PublicWorkshop in March at the Pendry Hotels & Resorts-#Chicago. Co-chair of our Business and Payment Model Committee, Lena Chaihorsky, BS will facilitate the discussion, covering how #laboratory services’ #reimbursement is rapidly changing, discussing #market #opportunities, and offering a #toolkit for #labs to navigate the shifting landscape and use #longitudinal #data to close #care #gaps. Joining her will be #experts Renee Ennis, MBA, FHFMA, former CFO of TriCore Reference Laboratories, Dr. Roy Gandolfi, Senior Medical Director of Select Health, Joseph M. Schulman, MPA, Senior VP of Value Based Strategy at Northwell Health, and Glen Schuster, MBA, CEO and Partner of VedaPointe. You won't want to miss this spectacular lineup and the opportunity to pose this panel questions yourself! #Register now to join us!

The hospital of the future? It might just disappear. Picture this: No more sterile waiting rooms. No exhausting trips for vulnerable patients. Instead, a seamless integration of high-tech care, environmental health, and nutrition – all accessible from wherever you call home. At NLC, we are fortunate to work alongside some of the brightest minds in healthcare innovation. One of those minds belongs to Dr. Fenna Heyning, who has just published a thought-provoking book on the future of hospitals, The Disappearance. Drawing from her wealth of experience as an internist and hospital leader, Fenna takes us on a journey through the evolution of hospitals—from long-term patient “guesthouses” to the modern-day technological fortresses we see today. She dares to ask: What if we tore down those concrete walls entirely? Fenna argues for a healthcare system that transcends the traditional boundaries, integrating high-complex healthcare with public health, environmental sciences, and nutrition. Her message is clear: to truly care for future generations, we need to adopt a more holistic perspective, breaking down the silos that have fragmented our approach to health. Dr. Fenna Heyning's book, The Disappearance, challenges us to reimagine healthcare from the ground up. At NLC, we are incredibly proud to have Fenna Heyning as part of our team. Her work as Lead Clinical Expertise bridges the gap between clinical practice and innovation, ensuring that the best of science reaches patients. And with her new book, she is pushing the conversation even further—inviting us all to rethink what healthcare could and should be. A sweet reminder that the future of healthcare is not just about technology or treatment—it’s about reimagining the very foundation of how we care for ourselves and each other. Already curious to see how the future hospital looks like? Find a link to buy the book in the comments below. #Futureofhealthcare #Healthcareinnovation #NLC
