The Memorial Day BBQ is Calling My Name 🍔🌭 I can practically smell the burgers on the grill! The Memorial Day BBQ is calling my name, but if you’re like many of the people I talk with, there are a few things you might need to tackle before being ready to relax: 1. Filling a 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲: It's time to find the right person to step into this crucial position. 2. Delivering some 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: A challenging conversation is on the horizon, but it's essential to help my team grow. 3. Reflecting, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴, and replanning the rest of the quarter: Taking a step back to refine my game plan so we can crush our goals. Does any of this resonate with you? If so, let's get to work before the summer gets here. Schedule a 𝟵𝟶-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 with me today (link in the comments) and together, we'll pave the way for a smoother, carefree summer, where you can focus on enjoying the slower pace that comes with summer. Let's Go Summertime! #ceos #womenentrepreneurs #womenownedbusiness

Yes! Another Hive member… and what a journey we have been on! Over the years I created many events where beginners can learn how to play poker, largely media and influencer events... These events meant you could have relaxed, fun one-on-one time with people explaining the game and sharing anecdotes. This usually resulted in people wanting to learn more. However it’s so hard to scale something like that, that tangible experience… and we know walking into a casino isn’t always the most comfortable experience, especially if you don’t fully know what you’re doing. And what if you wanted to improve your game but you weren’t part of any particular community? Yes there are blogs and books and courses out there, but if you’re someone with a busy life and only a certain amount of time and money, it’s going to be hard to know where to start! A few years ago I was dwelling on this from a female perspective. We needed to offer more educational and comfortable opportunities that fit into life and were easy to pick up. Even better if they could result in amazing live experiences you perhaps wouldn’t have had the chance to go for normally. I had heard of Poker Power, mostly about Erin, through my amazing friend Jennifer and I thought… let’s have a conversation and see what we can do. I’m so glad I did. We did some really amazing stuff together, bootcamps and courses, and live experiences, with stories for days! These people formed communities who still meet up and do things together, and incredibly still love the game. However, the thing I’m mostly thankful for are that these things brought very special people into my life! Erin and I wanted to do so much good together, and we achieved it against all odds. Although things came to an end with that chapter for both of us, I firmly believe we were only just getting started… I’m very keen that her spirit and smarts rub off on me for the longest time.

My small win this week: keeping up with my meal prep during a hectic work week, which included two unexpected trips to A&E after my partner injured his knee in a basketball game… 🙈 Today, I had the incredible (if a bit nerve-wracking) opportunity to lead a workshop at the EmpowerHer: Digital Confidence event with AD:VENTURE. We shared our small wins from the week— keeping on top of laundry, learning new things, finding time for a run, and being there for our friends— and discussed how this type of unseen work, often part of the “female load,” is rarely celebrated but often requires a high level of skill. In our daily lives, we’re constantly managing budgets, prioritising, influencing, and solving problems — usually without even realising it. These are valuable skills in any workplace, but we don’t give ourselves nearly enough credit for them. But we need to! Recognising and celebrating these skills is key to understanding our own strengths and potential, and can drive bigger achievements and future success. So, let's get celebrating! 🎉 🎉 🎉

I hope everyone (at least my Northern Hemisphere friends) had a great summer. Taking a break from social media was just what I needed! But, now we're back with the Nice Guy/Gal Awards. For those of you who aren't familiar with the awards, we are looking to celebrate those people in our lives who are good people. Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals). If you want to nominate someone, just shoot me a private message by 5:00 EST on Thursday. There are only 3 requirements: 1) you have to be connected to the person you nominate 2) you can only nominate one person per week 3) you can’t nominate yourself 😀 If you want to provide a brief reason for your selection, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement. Let’s recognize people who make a difference simply by being nice. Have a great week, everyone. https://lnkd.in/efTdSmWY #network #sportsbiz #people #niceguy #networking #sportsmarketing

I joined Statsig later than I hoped, but I still saw its three-year journey. 2020 was important for me. I became a better data scientist -- effective, pragmatic, and ironically, "are right, a lot" -- one of Amazon's leadership principles that I found most puzzling. A big reason was building the conviction of the value of data through AB testing. After 6 years in PhD and 2 years at Amazon, I doubted if data really helped businesses. At Facebook, I learned it does. I used data to make key decisions and prove them with experiments. Such conviction is still paying dividends today. Facebook's AB testing tool was great, but I couldn't talk about it much. It was internal. When Vijaye R. started a company to make a similar tool, I interviewed him (https://lnkd.in/gGRqTjRg) and asked for a demo (https://lnkd.in/gnA_cjpy). Rewatching it today, you will find that the product has matured a LOT, but the technical insights and the mission remain the same. I believed in this business a lot, maybe more than most of the founding members. This tool needs to be built, and they're the right people for it. I wished them luck and continued my journey. Two years later, with all the learning and growth, I was back. It almost felt like gravity. Because Statsig is about the mission all along -- make data useful.
Three Years? Really? It feels just like yesterday, a few of us got together and started a company. In a blink of an eye, three years have flown by. Today, I feel proud for having built this incredible team - this team that has crafted amazing products, stood up a strong business, supported thousands of customers large and small, forged everlasting friendships, shared life milestones including welcoming Statsig babies, and more. I have shared this internally many times before: Statsig’s only moat is this team’s ability to out-execute competition. Here’s to many more accomplishments! Happy 3rd Anniversary, Statsig!!
