Not a lot of people master the art of storytelling. We didn't, until we started working with a storytelling coach after coming back from Londolozi. Even then, we still have a long way to go! The ability to relay a message authentically is one of most powerful skills you can have. As a founder, you need to be able to get investors, customers, employees excited enough to want to join you for the journey. How do you do that? Sure, you can show them a powerpoint with numbers. But it's the story you tell that makes the biggest difference. This doesn't mean you have to mimic someone else's way of talking. There are many different ways of being a good storyteller: maybe you're funny, maybe you're serious, maybe you're vulnerable. Try out different things and see what works for you - but invest time in practising this skill and really sharpening it

I often struggle with one skill that everyone talks about: Storytelling. I’ve always felt like I “suck” at it, especially when it comes to sharing my personal experiences. But let's be real, It's 2024 & stories are what people crave. In today’s world, people want to hear real stories. You don’t have to share everything Just share what feels right.😄✨ Here are some things I’ve learned along the way: Sharing even a small part of your story can help you connect with others. It’s not about how big your story is—it’s about how relatable it is. Like any skill, storytelling gets easier with practice. Start small—share a lesson or a funny moment. For example, I once spilled coffee on my laptop while rushing an assignment. It was a mess, but I learned to slow down and stay calm.😅 Your story doesn’t need to be perfect. Sometimes, the messy parts are the most meaningful. Pay attention to how others tell their stories. You can find inspiration in how they do it. Remember, your voice is important! 🌼 Whether it’s a funny story, a tough time, or just something you noticed, every story counts. Okay enough for today. Bye🙋♀️ . . . What about you? Have you ever struggled with storytelling, or do you have a funny or memorable moment to share? I'd love to hear your thoughts.😄 #Storytelling #RealTalk #PersonalGrowth

🚀 Unlock the Power of Storytelling! 📖✨ Storytelling is everywhere, and everyone wants you to tell more and better stories. 🌟 Whether you're in technology. marketing, sales, public speaking, or leadership, you've probably heard a lot about its importance. A Well-Known Story 🤓 : A guru emphasizes the importance of storytelling, leading you to an abundance of tips, tricks, and tactics. You learn about structures, openers, closers, and triggering mirror neurons. Hold on... A Lesser-Known Story 🧩 : Once upon a time, a friend of mine, with ADHD found many stories boring. Too many details, predictable endings, and lack of surprises made stories challenging. He preferred getting to the point quickly over a wandering narrative. The Point Of Stories 🎯 Not every lesson needs a story, and not everyone appreciates them in every situation. Stories need a reason to exist, enhancing the material with context and relatability. The Story Barometer 📝 Before diving into storytelling, Let's try this 2-step exercise: 1️⃣ Write the Point/Purpose/Moral: What’s the underlying message? One sentence. 2️⃣ What Is Missing?: Can someone grasp the point with an additional sentence or three bullet points? If yes, a lengthy story might be unnecessary. Remember, you don't need permission to tell a great story with a point! 🌠 #Storytelling #Communication #Leadership #Marketing #PublicSpeaking #EffectiveCommunication

Storytelling is a skill that anyone can learn. Start with this 3-step "U-shaped" process: 1. Begin with what's in your head Every story begins with a natural and sloppy rendition. 2. Write it down and edit it This step is tedious and makes you sound rehearsed, but it's required. 3. Practice it and tailor it to your audience With enough practice, you'll be able to deliver your story in a more natural and polished way. tl:dr - Telling a story well requires a lot of hard work. - If someone sounds natural and polished, they've likely told the same story many times. Storytelling isn't just for campfire tales - it's a communication game-changer. Learning to craft narratives helped me: • Captivate colleagues in meetings. • Explain ideas to my family with ease. • Even connect better with my dog on walks! (Okay, maybe not him, but you get the idea.) Storytelling lets you connect with people on an emotional level, making communication clear, memorable, and even enjoyable. What’s your favourite storytelling tips? #Storytelling #Communication #Growth #Learningeveryday

CEO @ VEN // Helping growth stage tech CEOs fix go-to-market struggles using modern systems and strategy
The skill of storytelling can be used for evil as much as it can be used for good. This occurred to me as I was trading war stories with Kyle Norton recently, and it reminded me of some of the coaching I’ve done in the past about delivering information. One of the biggest mistakes that junior revops folks make is trying to shoehorn in a narrative where one does not exist. I can’t remember where I saw it, but I recently read something about how folks with reporting responsibilities should “make news” instead of reporting it. That’s terrifying. The truth is what matters the most, and there is often a story associated with the truth. Folks who can harness the power of storytelling to articulate facts and arguments in a way that resonates with an audience are doing it right. But it is not okay to do this the other way around. If there is no story, don’t report one. Report the facts.

People are in love with storytelling, but most misunderstand it. • It's not a growth hack. • It's not a public speaking trick. • It's not a specific set of methodologies. Storytelling is simply how humans communicate. Everything is storytelling.
