❓ Does a push for diagnosis and therapy send the wrong message to kids? 🔥 The rate of suicide and suicidal ideation have gone up since 2010. 💭 We recently had one of our clients present with suicidal ideation. (It was due to a medication change but definitely other variables as well) but it got me thinking. 🎯 What are we missing here? 💔 They say the road to bad places is paved with good intentions. 📶 Is it access to social media? 💊 Every kid needing therapy for any possible reason? 💓 💖 💞 💗 Creating a culture of validation (perhaps too much)? 🙅♀️ Parents absolutely wrecked by telling their kids no? 🧠 As a therapist myself, it's a dilemma. Because I know how valuable therapy can be. 🤷♀️ However, are we overgeneralizing therapy, providing therapy in excess or not taking proper steps to properly orient our children to the therapy? 👓 ⏳ 👓 Hindsight is 20/20.
