I guess what ill add is that the community was doing fine before hasbro bought WOTC and ruined any good faith the community had that theyd make decisions thay would still benefit the community. Instead its been one obvious money grab after another AT THE EXPENSE of a community. Thye just have no good faith left since they were bought. For instance, over the past 10 years ive spent hundreds of dollars buying most of 5th edition, only for them to be obsolete within a decade. So if i want to stay current, which i dont have to, i have to repurchase my core rulebooks? What percentage of users will actually buy this? Then to make it only accessable my tier list subscription. Why not suck my blood while youre at it. Thank goodness i dont need to buy it to have fun. I honestly feel a discount is in order at least if youve bought the older books. Who the heck is their business strategist? Hvbe they ever played a TTRPG?
I appreciate that the core rules in these three updated books are being added to Creative Commons, so nobody is being forced to purchase anything to stay relevant or incorporate the improvements into their games. That said, the new books do look like a beautiful package and I'm sure a lot of people won't want to wait until next year for the updated SRD. I'm still sceptical about Project Sigil, I don't know if my parties will have the hardware or internet speed to run it properly. We'll have to see how it performs once it's in general hands. Hasbro and WotC have burned a lot of bridges with the D&D community and will probably never fully regain trust/goodwill, but I do genuinely believe that the designers and writers of the game itself are passionate nerds who deserve to have their work celebrated
Played from First Edition on with many breaks and tangents over the years but always come back and have most of the various Edition books ect along the 4 decade's of playing. Enjoy the game for the game Edition you play or a combination of them all matters little, It is the fellowship of your group that matters.
As someone who recently joined the DnD World, I am so excited for all the possibilities that WOTC is introducing and all the different ways that now exist to play this game.
Nice to see an announcement of the books in European languages! Can't wait to have a release date! :D
Project Sigil looks awesome.
Can't wait to get access on D&D Beyond next week!!

2moI'm skeptical when role-playing games are turned into a business market. So many other great RPGs put there. Anyone can make their own.
