Interesting video on some of the interal workings of DHL: https://lnkd.in/dk_H3iJ6 I myself once tried to send a package to Kenya. I bought the postal stuff online and also directly entered the target address on their website. They claimed to be able to send to Kenya and told me about customs information I was required to provide. But then they showed me a form for a German address, not a Kenyan. With the help of the Kenyan recipient we somehow managed to fill the address into that obviously not suitable form. At one of the many DHL partner shops I tried to get the package sent off, but the guy was a bit unprepared for the digital postal information I brought with me. For a small fee he agreed to print everything and glue it to the package. What I just purchased on DHL's website was obviously not the right product - but it was the only one I found. This was an official DHL partner, with all the DHL branded fancy machines and everything. After many weeks (I think about 9) of having nothing heard about the delivery and it not arriving, I sent their support an email asking whats up. They basically refused to do anything about the situation, telling me I should have bought the tracking option, which wasn't offered to me during checkout because of the small size of the package. In the end they refused to investigate and closed the matter on their end. In the video you will hear an explanation as to why: DHL isn't actually delivering everywhere in the world. They will hire partner delivery companies to do that for them. Their customer service is rated by how many complaints they can resolve per time unit, giving their customer service an incentive to just lie about the situation, which has happened to the guy in the video, and likely myself. Since this Youtuber was a potential negative viral video for DHL, they invited him to their facilities, showing how they work and it's really fucking bad. They have human beings hand-sorting parcel based on the label. It doesn't even matter that I purchased this stuff online and that everything has QR codes. Human beings are still reading those labels and mis-sending parcels meant for Austria to Australia. No wonder they lost my package. I remember a tech presentation from a DHL guy, who told us how to deal with digitalization etc. and I must say I feel a bit cheated - not just because they probably threw my package in the trash because it's cheaper than actually sending it. ;-)
