I want to share that after an extraordinary 13-year journey, I have departed Entravision this week. It has been an incredible adventure filled with immense responsibility and trust. Under the visionary leadership of Walter Ulloa, Entravision expanded from the US to 40 countries, with digital revenue soaring from $3 million in 2012 to over $1 billion by 2023, alongside many other impactful achievements. Together with an exceptional team, we worked towards establishing Entravision as a global brand, an outstanding workplace, and a unique platform for global brands. From TV and radio solutions to pioneering App Marketing and Big Tech marketing solutions, we served over 7,000 clients annually. Collaborating with industry giants like Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snap, Criteo, and Twitter was challenging but rewarding. Going global presented numerous challenges, from sales, collection, and reporting, to tax compliance, recruitment to training. Weekly and Monthly global video calls connected us from around the world, fostering learning and growth from diverse talents across the globe. It was a privilege to work with such extraordinary individuals, both as colleagues and friends. I'm grateful for the support of remarkable colleagues like Mauricio Arnal, Mark Boelke, Jeff DeMartino, Christopher T. Young, Jeffery Liberman, Paula Velasco Quesada, Pablo Saba, Pieter Jan De Kroon, Jordi de los Pinos, Emre ATALAY, Karl Meyer, Alexander LaBrie, Karina Cerda, Lucas Ceballos, Faisal Sheikh, Farzana Sheikh, Julian Jordaan, Victor Kong, Nicolas Cohen, Leonora Navarrete, Sebastian D., Giuseppe Fournier, Bill McNally, Mariana Villa, Marissa de la Rosa, Tatiana Lopez, Xavier Torres, Jose Luis Vazquez, and many others who contributed to our success at Entravision. While looking forward to the next chapter, I'm back at SWS, a platform I founded in 2011 to offer cutting-edge strategic and investment advisory to media, marketing, and private equity organizations. In my view, the intersection of content distribution (media) and advertising will morph(as an industry) into Commerce Media. A new game where brand development, data management, AI, and advertising intersect to attract and retain clients, leveraging advanced technology and strategic insights to enhance customer experiences and drive brand loyalty. Redeem rewards for things you actually want and love. Which is what I just did for a Peloton during Amazon prime days. I must say, it's pretty cool to use accumulated points earned from awards, birthdays, work anniversaries and recognition within the Bucketlist Rewards and Recognition platform. I also leveraged an internal perk we have here that provides us a budget for a Bucketlist Day, allowing us to use it towards anything on our own Bucketlist. For the past couple of days, I have consoled and supported my previous colleagues as they have “unclipped” for their last ride with Peloton. I feel a responsibility to advocate for some of the feelings that can’t be expressed due to the social customs and expectations of the saturated job market they face as they pursue their next opportunities. During the pandemic, Peloton exploded, and for anyone who was there, you remember how amazing the experience was. We grew so fast! I remember an all-hands meeting a team member described us as a “6-foot 5th grader trying to learn.” The pandemic tapered off, and manufacturing, logistics, and financial challenges soon arose. During this existential crisis, upper management became more concerned with self-preservation rather than navigating obstacles and making decisions that could mitigate loss. Barry Mcarthy once said, “Fast is as slow as we go.” I guess we weren’t fast enough. To all hiring managers: Understand that the individuals parting ways with Peloton who are applying to your posted position, they have endured change and stress to the degree that few others will experience in their entire careers. They have most likely been working a combination of 2 or more roles that went beyond the scope of their original job description. These are badass people that you should at least consider for an interview.
