‘Welcome to Jurassic Park …’ The unseen sign … In reception areas, sales managers offices and boardrooms across the land there sits an unseen sign. “Welcome to Jurassic Park - we have always done it this way.” How many times have the infamous words … “We have always done it this way” been used in your business …? It is the stock reply to many a question such as why do you do that/use that/ask that/have that there/use that process etc etc If the speed of change outside your business is faster than the speed of change within, then you’re in trouble! Yet so many organisations simply do what they have always done without considering that there may be better ways. Another stalwart of the high street, The Body Shop, has succumbed this week and whilst they certainly did innovate over the last few years, sadly they have been unable to stem the losses. ‘We have always done it this way’ isn’t a mission statement … and I don’t believe it should ever be used as a response or a way of operating a business. It was about representing the spirit, potential, and dreams of an entire nation. The weight of that flag in my hands became the weight of responsibility on my shoulders - a weight that has shaped my journey ever since. The transformation didn't end when I lowered the flag. It continues to influence how I approach my work, my relationships, and my role in our global community. Like those Olympians, I found that representing my country wasn't just an honor - it was a life-altering experience. Are You Daring And Adventurous Enough To Climb This Stairway To Heaven In Austria? That's the popular Stairway to Heaven or the Sky Ladder. It is actually an approximately 140ft long Jacob's ladder that stretches over a 2296ft abyss. It makes up the final leg of a fixed climbing route, known as Via ferrata (Italian for iron path), to the summit of Donnerkogel (2054 m above sea level). The Sky Ladder is a unique and rather new feature that bridges a giant gap on the Donnerkogel via ferrata.

Serendipity during Iftar. A few days ago, Inge and I sat beside someone with a familiar face. Thirty minutes later, we discovered she participated in the first Hercules Trophy in New York 12 years ago. We still call it "The thunderstorm edition." Remember Koen Blanquart, Kris Talboom, and Inge Van Belle? 🤣 2 hours before the start, our beautiful village on Randall's Island was flooded by a thunderstorm. Even funnier: two gentlemen sitting next to us also recently moved here and also participated!
