🌍 International Migrants Day: Celebrating Diversity and the Contributions of Migrants in Canada On this International Migrants Day, we pause to reflect on the incredible contributions that migrants make to Canada and to societies worldwide. As someone who has personally experienced the journey of migration, I understand the challenges, the resilience required, and the transformative impact that migration has not only on individuals but also on the communities that welcome them. Migrants bring with them a wealth of diverse skills, perspectives, and cultural richness that make Canada the vibrant, thriving nation it is today. From healthcare professionals to skilled tradespeople, from entrepreneurs to educators, migrants are essential in every facet of society. Their contributions shape our economy, enrich our cultural tapestry, and drive innovation. However, the journey isn’t always easy. Migrants face many challenges: adjusting to new environments, navigating language barriers, securing employment, and building new support systems. This is where the importance of inclusive programs and community support cannot be overstated. Accessible programs that provide resources, language training, and professional development are crucial in helping migrants overcome these barriers and thrive in their new home. As a migrant myself, I deeply appreciate how these programs and the support of inclusive communities can pave the way for success. They have not only helped me professionally but have also shaped me into the individual I am today — adaptable, driven, and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to society. 🌍 UK ENIC attended the latest Project Co-ordination Group meeting for the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR) in Athens last month. 👉 The EQPR is an international initiative led by the Council of Europe and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. 🗣️ At last month's meeting, the group talked about the year's achievements including proven solutions to address national challenges, a pool of trained evaluators, combination of face-to-face and online interviews, and how EQPR holders are accepted to further studies and work, to name a few. ➡️ https://ow.ly/kL0150UtkNF

Part of the Bucovina Institute Association team participated today in the "Protection and socio-economic inclusion of refugees and asylum seekers in Romania", a working group open to organizations working in the field of economic inclusion of 🇺🇦 Ukrainian refugees in 🇷🇴 Romania, to facilitate common learning and share best practices. 🌐 Some of the main topics discussed: • Supporting refugees in accessing the labor market • Courses for refugees • Individual and group career counseling for refugees • Thematic training, assistance, and information materials on access to employment, harassment at work, access to social benefits, financial and economic inclusion of refugees • Educational platforms for refugees and non-refugees

Kiron Open Higher Education, founded in Berlin in 2015, is dedicated to empowering individuals with a refugee background by providing access to education and professional development through its innovative online platform, Kiron Campus. With a mission to create a virtual home for learning and personal growth, Kiron addresses the unique challenges faced by refugees, such as language barriers and lack of professional networks. Our Oliver Wyman team in Berlin recently collaborated with Kiron to enhance its corporate partnership strategy and design a comprehensive job market integration approach, ensuring that refugees can transition from education to meaningful employment. Over six weeks, we worked closely with the Kiron team to refine their strategy, focusing on facilitating not just educational access, but also meaningful workforce entry for refugees.
