As my Greenhouse Software journey comes to an end, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on the nearly decade (!!) I’ve spent building this amazing company… When I joined 8 years ago, I didn’t know much about Greenhouse, but witnessed the impact that great hiring can have — both on the individual and the organization — and I went all in on their mission. Fast forward to today… I’ve been lucky enough to witness so many Greenhouse highlights - the big deals, revenue milestones, acquisitions, funding rounds, presidents club trips, office moves, etc. The moments that stand out the most, though, were all about the people: It’s the candidate I’d been pursuing for years calling to tell me they’re all in, or seeing the one I took a chance on hiring getting their first promotion, or muscling through hard times and watching the team rally together and lean on each other, or realizing that coworkers have become family and watching them start families of their own. Thank you to all of the people who gave me PURPOSE over the last 8 years - far too many to name but you know who you are. So, as my Greenhouse journey comes to an end, I still come back to this: If you can hire the best people, and really invest in their success - EVERYONE wins. It only felt right that the next step of my journey be a continuation to fulfill that mission. I’m excited to lead Rev Ops at Instawork, revolutionizing the labor marketplace space. I hired a random man off the street. It's almost the 20th, which means rallying the sales team for holiday kick-off, and preparing to expand for next season's hiring. On the way back to HQ, I saw a man passing out flyers with the biggest smile, even though many weren't taking the flyers. I stopped, let him pitch to me, and then told him to call me. Turns out, he doesn't have much sales experience, but was covering for a friend. I offered to teach him more, and encouraged his natural abilities. Today he came by for an overview and to get materials. Mind you, English isn't his first language, but we both speak French so it was okay. He said, "I don't know this stuff, but I will learn, Boss. I'm ready" . He's been gone an hour and is already double checking some resources he found to make sure he's learning properly. THAT is why I ONLY hire assets. You don't need to have a perfect cv or even a degree, just SHOW me your skills and your willingness to be self disciplined. This is why I was perfectly okay with hiring a random guy off the street. While Looking for work, I wonder if the age old process of judging prospective candidates is any worth, Hiring horizon needs an immediate radical shift, and needs to be dynamic and more contemporary. Much like organisations, we the Employees and the prospective employees have our own Vision and Aspiration that drive us, the need of the hour is to strike the fine balance, where Employees grow at the same speed as the organization, based on ones contribution. #Vkpedia

Five biases in hiring which is very common #One - Hire someone with a similar experience and from big brands . #Two - Hire someone who has a stable history of 3 years or 5 years . #Three - Hire someone who has performed in the past #Four - Hire a specialist #Five - Hire someone who has a lot of experience in the field. In my 20 years of hiring people Let me tell you There is no #winning formula All of the above points don't have any guarantee of performance because I hired a guy with no experience who proved to be great I hired a lady with lots of job change but she proved to be my best employee I hired a guy with lots of stability and experience but he didn't work So what should you look for Look for values , integrity, attitude, and hunger Rest everything falls into place if you have a great organisation and culture Agree ?
