I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with colleagues last week -- sharing the stage with Nicole Phillips and Nathan Frank to discuss the critical work we're doing to simplify our members' experiences filling medications, and the technological strides we're making to support their health journeys. Three themes emerged from our discussion: We are committed to expediting prior authorization (PA) processes and making medication transitions smoother. Our goal is to help members navigate their health care challenges quickly with minimum disruption and effort. Second, our focus on cost transparency is unwavering. Whether it's through point-of-sale (POS) rebates, leveraging CVS Caremark CostSaver to find the most affordable medications, or our digital tools like Savings Advisor and Check Drug Costs that provide real-time cost information -- we're here to serve members. Lastly, by harnessing the power of AI, engaging with our Customer Care team, and integrating services through a comprehensive digital app connecting Caremark, CVS Pharmacy and CVS Specialty -- we are not only improving how members feel about their experience filling medications, we are supporting people taking their medications when and how they need to, helping them to be healthier. In 2024, you can expect us to remain steadfast in our mission to elevate the health and experience of all our members.

What were the BIGGEST #pharmacy stories/events to happen this year? Here are some of my top picks/favorites: - Explosion in AI tech dev for healthcare (ex: Amazon's HealthScribe launch) - #pharmageddon - USA Today article: Prescription for disaster - Ohio pharmacy practice advancement - Walgreens/CVS/Rite Aid closure announcements - PBM disruption (like Blue Shield of California dropping CVS Caremark as state's PBM) I'm thinking about doing regular roundups of big news/trends related to the pharmacy marketplace. What if you could pick up your prescription and register for a clinical trial at the same time? Though that may sound unrealistic now, retailers like Kroger, Walmart, and Walgreens have their sights set on expanding into the clinical trial space. "The reality is, we're trying to build the right highway into our communities to bring trials closer to where they are," shares Ramita Tandon, Walgreens' chief clinical trials officer. With current recruitment challenges, including diversifying participation to underrepresented groups, having the ability to register for a clinical trial while visiting one of the nation’s largest retailers could have significant positive impacts. Would you want to see major retailers participate in clinical trial recruitment? #clinicalstudies #patientexperience #clinicaltrials

💡 Top Five Failures of Mail Order Pharmacy: 1. ✔️ Mail Order: Delayed Medication 2. ✔️ Delivery: Stolen Medications 3. ✔️ Non-Temperature Controlled: Compromised Drug Quality 4. ✔️ Ranked Less Than 1 Out of 5 in Customer Satisfaction 5. ✔️ Supposed to Save Money: Ends Up Costing More Why are we still using mail order pharmacies? 🤔 #banmailorder #Softwaresellsitself It’s outrageous what Joe Ed Holt is subjected to for standing up for independent pharmacies and the health of Georgians. Blocking legislation that benefits independent pharmacies is a disservice to our communities. We need leaders who support local healthcare, not those who suppress it. #SupportLocalPharmacies #HealthcareHeroes #GeorgiaNeedsChange

On 'This Week in Pharmacy' we're talking about "Fighting for Independent Community Pharmacy" -- and how the struggles of these healthcare outlets are causing major problems for #PublicHealth nationwide. First, in the news, Walgreens announces 'significant' closures, which will have a major impact on communities throughout the country. Next, Pharmacy Times story on "The Future of Pharmacy: Enhancing Chronic Disease Management With Food Is Medicine" --this is a huge opportunity for #Pharmacists as healthcare coaches. Last, Is pharmacy fully versed in the intricacies of research ethics? --- from Royal Pharmaceutical Society. The special news feature is from RxMile CEO Kunal Vyas, reviewing the dangers of status-quo mail-order pharmacy and the need for drastic changes immediately for the safety of medications. Our 1st interview is with Joe Ed Holt who took a stand on social media about Georgia State Governor Kemp vetoing the SB198 bill which would make reimbursements for Independent Pharmacies the same as national chains. The 2nd interview is with the new Excutive Director of the NCPA Foundation, Sonja Pagniano, CFRE and how this foundation is laser focused on special programs to keep Pharmacy Businesses thriving. Todays #TWIRx is sponsored by Waypoint Strategic Advisors, thank you Matthew Coakley & Ben Coakley for your work in helping indie pharmacies. Watch NOW on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/e9-SWDhV
