I recently read a compelling article on nurse practitioner training in Bloomberg Businessweek. It's the first of two on the rapid expansion of nurse practitioner programs and its potential impact on healthcare quality. As someone involved in healthcare philanthropy, I find this article both illuminating and concerning, especially their take on the lack of standardization in NP education and the variability in clinical training quality. Some key takeaways: • Nurse practitioner programs have proliferated, often with online-only education • Questions arise about the quality and consistency of training • New graduates frequently report feeling underprepared I’m eager to read the second installment of this series. I'm sure this has raised quite a bit of discussion within the healthcare field.
