Biden administration marks Earth Day by touting its climate accomplishments and providing $7 billion to expand solar energy access In conjunction with Earth Day 2024, the Biden administration took the opportunity to underscore and highlight what it describes “the most ambitious climate agenda in history.” As set forth in a White House Fact Sheet, on his first day in office, the President caused the U.S. to rejoin the Paris Agreement, and thereafter secured the largest ever climate investment and unleashed a clean energy manufacturing boom that has attracted hundreds of billions in private sector investment and created over 270,000 new clean energy jobs. Moreover, the White House pointed to advancing environmental justice and ensuring that the benefits of climate investments reach historically disadvantaged and overburdened communities. Additionally, the administration pointed to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Solar for All program which will provide $7 billion in awards to further access to solar energy. It also described major steps being taken to advance the American Climate Corps, a new initiative that seeks to mobilize the next generation of clean energy workers.
