Beyond the intentional harm to all of us sourced in the amoral greed of Trump corporate supporters, it is the way political appointees led this effort and blocking civil servants from.doing their job that represents an even broader threat from Trump's prior and promised efforts to replace many civil servants with political appointees. If policy and laws are so deeply set by such political appointees throughout government, added to the work of lobbyists and politicians eholden to corporate PACs, we all will be at risk from more decisions like this. https://lnkd.in/edw9XRm9

What are the "Waters of the US" listed in the federal clean water act? It used to be whatever the EPA and president du jour defined. NOW it has a clear SCOTUS definition limiting the Fed and moving rules back to states and locals. This is a big deal for land development. Here is the scoop: The recent Supreme Court ruling represents a landmark victory for property rights in America. The unanimous decision significantly limits the scope of the Clean Water Act and the EPA’s authority, empowering personal property owners to have more control over their land. Key Points: The ruling restricts federal government overreach on private properties. It stems from a case involving the Sackett family’s 16-year legal battle against the EPA. The Supreme Court established a new two-part test for Clean Water Act jurisdiction. Conclusions: The decision is a triumph for advocates of property rights and a setback for expansive bureaucratic control. Environmental groups express concerns over potential increases in pollution. The ruling shifts authority over waterways back to state and local governments, seeking a balance between environmental protection and property rights. 🏛️🏞️👏📜🚫🏡🌊🔍📈🌱🛑📉🏗️🌾👨🌾🇺🇸 #epa #ruling #cleanwater #limited

The attached article is worth the read. There is a tendency for governments to “not walk the walk.” In other words, watch their actions and be careful to believe their talking points. Environmental justice issues are complex, but the Newsome administration should do better. And the ability of some large, corporate led interest groups to put together astroturfing efforts has been seen in the past, with Central Valley Ag corporations known for this.
