It’s Women’s Equal Pay Day today, which means it’s time to talk about the intersectional pay gap and what it will take to close it for ALL women. For BIPOC women, the struggle of facing systemic barriers rooted in race and gender is real. This injustice compounds over time and can result in up to $1 million+ of lost wages, limited opportunities for upward mobility, and diminished financial security over a 40+ year career. It’s unacceptable. Here are the other equal pay days for 2024 for these communities. 💸Women’s Equal Pay Day: March 12th (a two-day improvement from last year) 💸AANHPI Equal Pay Days: April 3/August 28th 💸LGBTQIA+ Equal Pay Awareness Day: June 3rd 💸Black Women’s Equal Pay Day: July 9th 💸Mom’s Equal Pay Day: August 7th 💸Latina Equal Pay Day: October 3rd 💸Native Women’s Equal Pay Day: November 21st It’s going to take all of us to close the gap. Continue to grow your confidence to negotiate and self-advocate. Here's a new blog from Real You Leadership on the Importance of Negotiating for BIPOC Women & Femmes here: https://lnkd.in/gj6jMA_g For allies and organizations, keep doing what you can in your power to advocate for systemic change, policies that center intersectionality and the most historically marginalized people, pay transparency, equal access to resources, and equal pay for all women.
