Did you know that the home construction industry is 2nd to last in terms of uptake of automation? We slightly edge out hunting and fishing. Just think of the range of operations and processes that could be assisted and adjusted by automation. No, I'm not talking about taking your job away. I'm talking about taking some of the drudge and grind out of your job, your biz, your industry. Automation that allows you to do more work with less effort. Ya, I know, you've automated your invoicing, parts of project management, material/equipment inventory. All good. Think outside the box. What if you could recruit from a wider pool of candidates, not just able-bodied 6ft tall men? A 2016 study by the US CDC showed that work-related musculoskeletal disorders in construction is 16% higher than in all industries combined. Fully 1/3 of these injuries are caused by overexertion. Meaning we're making crews do more than what their bodies can handle, regularly. That's not OK on so many levels. What about investing in shoulder saving or knee saving exoskeleton assistive devices. These things are awesome, and mean that the strength/stamina quotient is not the limiting factor for the jobsite. Minimize injuries due to overworked joints. Keep your crew b/c they like playing Ironman. You and your crews can then work far more efficiently and effectively - and keep your backs, shoulders, and hips from getting destroyed. Think outside the box, y'all.
