Independent Board Director; Former Public Company Board Chair, Comp Committee Chair, CEO and CMO; Global, Omnichannel, and ESG Leadership
Boards are primarily male dominated. Yet, it's been proven that companies with female board directors have better results. Did you know that less than 30% of boards have a female director? 50/50 Women on Boards is driving to building better boards composed of 50% females by 2050. If you're a woman interested in a board seat, please join us on October 10 to learn how to make that happen. We'll have coaches available to answer your questions and speakers who will share the stories behind their board journey.
Former Zurich Insurance Company Subsidiary CEO | Board Member | Banking and Insurance | Governance | Risk Management | Actuary
"I know everyone is busy...." That seems to be a common opening line. And I'm going to try to amend that statement more with a "Yes and we should still get together in person." Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the Leadership Committee of the 5050 Women on Board Seattle event in person. For the first time. We've been planning our October 10 program via Zoom and it has been going great. But it took the venerable Betsy Berkhemer-Credaire President of 50/50 Women on Boards coming to town to get us in the same room. What joy to hear Betsy's wisdom and encouragement. And to take the time to get to know each other better. Interested in joining a corporate board or expanding your board portfolio? Join us in Seattle on October 10! Registration is open at 5050wob.com. Thank you Renee Hawkes for hosting and to our amazing co-chair Christina Easton. And thank you to our leadership committee members who are creating a memorable program. Just like a plant needs nutrients to grow, I view industry conferences — especially those tailored to women — as the work nutrients I need to help stretch and grow. 🌱 That’s why I’m counting down the days until ASA’s THRIVE Live with great anticipation! We’re less than two weeks away and I can’t wait to join this incredibly vibrant community of women staffing leaders to learn, share, and grow our industry together. We’ll hear stories about progress and how women are continuing to put in the work to remove inequities that still exist; we’ll share advice for enhancing our leadership and communication skills; we’ll give examples for increasing our effectiveness from an operational and board-related perspective; and we’ll celebrate and honor the women excelling in staffing and pushing us forward. Advancing our industry is so critical to driving change – especially for the next generation of women. Stewarding young leaders toward what’s possible is incredibly important to me. That’s why I’m really looking forward to meeting the 2024 Women in Leadership Scholarship winners who will be recognized during the conference. These scholarships were made possible due to the generous support of donors to the ASA Foundation, including those received in memoriam of Marietta Vickrey, Leslie Vickrey’s mother, and Loretta Penn – both of whom were inspiring leaders who forged a path for future generations and left their mark on the hearts of many. Congratulations to: 👏 Brandy Brockus, TSC, CSP, NEXTAFF 👏 Myriah (Borofka) Casey, MBA, Employbridge 👏 Stephanie Catoggio, LHH 👏 Isabella Colosia, Ardor Health Solutions 👏 Micaela Crespi, Randstad USA 👏 Justine Daley, Health Carousel 👏 Ashley Lee, StaffSource 👏 Shelbey Thompson, Health Carousel I can’t wait to meet you and support your journey as you continue to impact our industry. To my staffing colleagues, please consider this your personal invitation from me to join us at this year’s THRIVE Live! You don’t want to miss the incredible lineup of speakers and there's still time to register — https://bit.ly/4dqGaGK #ASATHRIVE #WomenInStaffing #WomenLeaders

Consulting Psychologist and Executive Coach, bringing out the best in leaders, helping professionals, manage career change, succession planning with family businesses, and best-selling author.
This past month, Leaders Connect Detroit hosted a panel titled "How Women Lead," featuring Dr. Kimberly Andrews Espy, President of Wayne State University; Denise Brooks-Williams, Senior Vice President and CEO of Care Delivery at Henry Ford Health Systems; and Kristi Stepp, Partner at Sigred Solutions, who also served as the moderator for the event. Today, I would like to highlight some of the key takeaways from the event. 1. Build a personal board of directors by gathering individuals who embody your aspirations or offer valuable insights and input. 2. In a leadership role it's essential to delegate success to others on your team. When I highlight how remarkable our division is, emphasize the outcomes achieved by the team's efforts, not by myself. 3. Leadership is not confined to a title; communicate that regardless of someone’s position, they have the capacity to lead and exert influence. 4. The success of an organization depends on the contributions of everyone in their respective roles. 5. Avoid taking things personally; more often than not, reactions are more about the other person than they are about you. 6. Throughout your career, seek out mentors and strive to keep those relationships strong. 7. Value family and be sure to keep those relationships strong. 8. Take good care of yourself. 9. Recognize that success takes time: each step of succeeding in a leadership role leads to the next step. 10. Develop your key skill set, especially presentation skills. Want some inspiration this week? Read this post and watch the YouTube shorts on my inspiring time at the recent AwesomeLeaders (Supply Chain Top Leaders) symposium. #inspiring #womenAndAllys #makingAnImpact
Authentic & Rewarding experience shared on our YouTube Channel as DeAnna reflects on the recent AWESOMELeaders.org Symposium: I am immensely grateful Michelle Dilley and the AWESOMELeaders.org team, along with Chris Nicholas and Jennifer McKeehan from the Sams Club team, for orchestrating an incredible event. Full house just a few hours ago for MPI Potomac Chapter March e2: She Thrives: A Roundtable Discussion with Women in Hospitality & Events and I was truly like a little LaJoy in the #womenempowerment candy store since it is rare, due to my travels that I can attend a #networking event. In addition to connecting with some of my fellow Smart Meetings women and some beloved colleagues (hey there Tara Melvin), a few things stood out to me. --The 80/20 rule which I fully agree with. Ready? Here is the secret sauce. Success is 80% #mindset and the rest is skill. --The importance of a self-care rituals whether it be before or after your event or busy season. Personally, for me, I have a pretty serious daily routine on event days and a post-event ritual. How about you? --Raise your hand if you know that one person does not get to dictate your path, future, or your destiny? Yes, during the audience question and answer portion we got into this topic. Oh, and I have good news! You just you are the executive producer of your life and career. --And last but not least, how to rebuild after life trauma or loss which came across clearly as one panelist shared powerfully her personal loss. This spoke to the #survivor in me and I know so many of us can relate. My recap does not do the discussion justice, you kind of had to be there. The hour was full and learnings abundant, but you know what really got me going? The range of women (and men) in attendance, how collectively we have all had struggles and yet, found our way to better days. Do you know what I mean? As I left, I was reminded that women always need each other, meaningful mentorship is essential in our career journey, and that thriving is inevitable and available to all of us. Back to a full evening of meetings. Have a great day in purpose. Thank you MPI Potomac Chapter for a great lunch session. #womenleadership #womenempowerment #womenhistorymonth #women #eventplanner
