The #U.S. election is crucial for #global_climate_change_action. #Joe_Biden's time as president helped fight global warming, both in the U.S. and worldwide. The next election could keep this progress #going or #undo it, affecting our chances to meet the #2030_climate_goals. It's important for #U.S. #voters to make a choice that keeps us on #track against #global_warming.
Happy President's Day! And speaking of Presidents, here's how the seven most recent ones rank in terms of climate action. You may be surprised by the rankings -- and some of the forgotten history behind them. https://lnkd.in/gUjbsYCb

ICYMI, something that is at the fore of everything we do at the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance. ➡️ “If we want to accelerate climate action, people need to see and experience its real-life benefits. And they need to see it soon because there’s a growing backlash against climate policy in cities around the world.” My latest for POLITICO Europe

Longtime climate and clean energy leader and mentor of mine, Michael Noble, recently reflected on his decades of leadership shaping and influencing climate policy in Minnesota, the Midwest, and beyond. My biggest takeaway, both from Michael’s reflections and as a climate leader who has been in the field for the past 20 years, is that not only is the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) the biggest and largest climate policy in the U.S. and even the world – but it, together with on the ground organizing, as well as private sector, technological innovation and philanthropic investment - are ensuring we will get halfway to our goal of net zero emissions by mid-century. Policies enacted at the state and national level have set us on a trajectory that the possibility of 4 or more degrees Celsius of warming are out of the picture – and ensuring we don’t exceed the Paris climate agreement of 1.5 Celsius is THE work for the next decade. The most serious climate consequences are now off the table due to the IRA and technological momentum underway. According to a new book, Climate Capitalism, it is now cheaper to save the planet than destroy it. That is powerful. This transition is unstoppable – and we need to not just make it inevitable, but also irresistible. Let’s continue to bring our fierce commitment and unwavering passion and heart to this work. There’s no time to waste. Listen to Michael’s talk here: https://lnkd.in/gBX4kZnu #climateaction #IRA #climatepolicy #cleanenergytransition #climateleadership #ActonClimate #decarbonization
