Amazing time at #NKBAW2W conference this week - it was such an honor to be selected and just the boost of confidence I needed! I learned a ton from the amazing advisors (Woo team Sherry Hansel Qualls!) and each and every other woman - all amazing! - I talked to. Here are my top 3: 1. 💡 Find your light! 💡 (A lighting metaphor always works with this gal!) Inspiration from an amazing keynote by Laura Kohler - this topic set the stage for differentiation, and bringing our individual experiences forward as an advantage. I'm not successful despite my differences - but because of them. I am uniquely suited to make change and impact. 2. ⌚ Take the time to be all in ⌚ I believe it was Marcia Speer who shared that it had been so long since they were in a meeting when every person was focused and fully all in. And it was incredible! With so many competing demands on everyone's time, it can be so hard to focus on what's in front of you. The energy was palpable and the tradeoff (a tiny bit of evening work) well worth it. 3. ✨ People are more than their title ✨ Everyone in that room had more to contribute, beyond the job they do as a K&B designer or marketing manager or project lead (and even group category manager!) - take the time to see people. Tap into the energy of others. Connect and cultivate inspiration. What ideas does someone have to contribute that they have never been asked??

While it's great to hear about various personal and professional experiences, I feel like the women of our community are missing out on the opportunity to use this platform to showcase the exceptional technical work that they are doing in the field. I know firsthand that women are doing remarkable work across the tech spectrum—from developing cutting-edge software with high-performance engineering to driving data science advancements and pioneering user experience design. These achievements deserve to be shared. Presenting your technical work not only highlights your skills but also empowers and inspires others, proving that women are at the forefront of tech innovation. By filling our stages with technical talks, we can normalize the presence of women as leaders in technology. This representation is vital. When women in the audience see their peers presenting groundbreaking work and sharing technical insights, it sends a powerful message: they, too, can lead and innovate in this space. This year at WTM Belfast 2025, it would be great to see talks that offer substantive takeaways and learnings from real projects. Whether you're a developer, data scientist, designer, or researcher, tell us about the work you're doing, the challenges you've faced, and the lessons you've learned.
