2024 was a year of growth, innovation, and impact for SheTech. Over 3,000 high school girls explored the possibilities of STEM through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community. From coding workshops to engineering challenges, every moment was a step toward closing the gender gap in tech and empowering the next generation of innovators. What stands out most isn’t just the numbers – it’s the curiosity, resilience, and excitement these girls brought to every experience. As we reflect on the year, we’re reminded that the future of STEM is brighter and more inclusive because of these young women and the mentors who lift them up. Here’s to continuing this momentum in 2025 and beyond. Thank you to everyone who made this year possible! Cydni Rogers Tetro

Empowering Young Girls in STEM: Building Confidence and Breaking Barriers How early should we encourage girls to explore STEM? Early exposure to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) builds more than skills—it builds confidence, problem-solving abilities, and a sense of possibility. By introducing young girls to STEM, we empower them to challenge stereotypes and imagine careers in fields where they have traditionally been underrepresented. Investing in programs and resources that support girls in STEM creates a future where they feel equally capable and inspired to pursue careers in science and technology. What advice would you give to girls interested in STEM? Let’s encourage the next generation! It's Technovation Girls Submission Day! Shattering the STEM Gender Gap ✨ Today's Technovation Girls submission day! This program is all about empowering young women to be future leaders in tech, and I'm so proud to be a part of it. Earlier this year, an alumnae shared a powerful story. Being in Technovation Girls gave her a unique perspective on STEM fields. After starting Technovation, she thought STEM was like a "Barbie world" – where every Software Engineer is a woman! This might seem small, but for me, it shows that girls who participate in Technovation are able to visualize themselves as STEM leaders and innovators. I can feel that someone will get the urge to comment that I want the pendulum to swing too far, and that I'm being too harsh on the status quo (what's new?). But truthfully, for the 76% of Technovation alumnae that go on to pursue STEM degrees, they will experience being one of few, if not the only, woman in their classrooms. (https://lnkd.in/gYq4DEZH) If being surrounded by amazing female software engineers as mentors and teammates helps a Technovation Girl feel like she has what it takes - I'm here for it! This alumnae's story perfectly embodies the impact of Technovation Girls. It's more than just coding and apps. It's about showing young women that they belong in the tech industry and that they can be the ones shaping its future. #TechnovationGirls #STEM #GirlPower #SubmissionDay Link to Barbie Sticker : https://lnkd.in/gPAfz3wZ

“A Message to Empower Future Generations in Tech” I recently received a message from a bright young girl who found me on LinkedIn and asked if I'd be willing to mentor her. Her first question struck a chord: "How and when did you realize you were interested in tech?" As I reflected on my journey, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness. My interest in tech sparked after high school, and I couldn't help but wonder... what if? What if I had been exposed to the endless possibilities of tech earlier? Would I have taken a different path? Would I have achieved my goals sooner? This experience reinforced the importance of engaging women in tech from an even earlier stage. We need to inspire and nurture their curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills before they reach high school. Research shows that: Girls are more likely to consider STEM careers when introduced to them between ages 11-14 (Girl Scout Research Institute) Early exposure to coding and tech concepts improves confidence and interest in STEM subjects (Code.org) As I pondered on how to empower this next generation, I realized that some ways to encourage girls to explore tech would be: Starting coding clubs and robotics teams in elementary and middle schools Pairing them with female tech professionals for mentorship Sharing inspiring stories of women in tech role models Utilizing online resources like Girls Who Code, SciGirls, and Code.org Integrating STEM education into everyday activities Let's work together to create a more inclusive and diverse tech industry! Share your own story of how you got into tech Tag a woman who inspires you in the tech industry Comment below with ways you're promoting diversity and inclusion in tech #WomenInTech #MentorshipMatters #STEMeducation #DiversityInclusion #EmpowermentThroughTech

My personal 10XStem project! I am offering 10 Voluntary hours of my time between now and July to state schools in Surrey to do Web 3 & NFT workshops and Gallery space to select pupils at a gallery event in June! Please tag any schools/educators/headteachers who may like to benefit from this opportunity! 🚨🚀 I am particularly interested in encouraging girls in STEM through this project! We will be bringing a partnership of the web 3 community, local businesses and schools to make a cool experience happen for children to help them reimagine the future potential with Tech. 10 hours to bring 10 more diverse children to STEM. 10x10=💯 If there are any other STEM leaders who are interested in my 10XStem project and how we can evolve this please let me know and lets talk. Imagine if we have 10 more leaders pledging to the 10XStem project. 💯 My why 👇 In the ever-evolving fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), diversity fuels innovation and creativity. Yet, women remain underrepresented in these crucial areas. As leaders in education technology, it's our responsibility to change this narrative and promote inclusivity from the classroom to the boardroom. Here are three actionable strategies we can implement to champion female participation in STEM: Mentorship Programs: Connect young women with female mentors who have succeeded in STEM fields. These role models can provide guidance, encouragement, and insights into navigating careers in these industries. Curriculum Integration: Incorporate real-life case studies of successful women in STEM into our curriculum. By showcasing these stories, we provide students with relatable role models who mirror potential career paths and success. Community Engagement: Host workshops, webinars, and conferences that focus on the achievements and challenges of women in STEM. These platforms not only educate but also build networks that support and empower women throughout their careers. Together, we can break barriers and create a more diverse and inclusive STEM community. Let's invest in empowering women with the skills and confidence needed to excel in these fields. Because when women succeed, we all win. 🔗 Join us in this mission. Let’s discuss more on how we can collectively foster a supportive ecosystem for women in STEM. #WomenInSTEM #DiversityInTech #EdTech #web3 #NFTs #blockchain #education

✨ First Outreach, First Thrill! ✨ What’s more exciting than sparking curiosity and inspiring the next generation of tech leaders? My team Olamide Lawal Precious Okafor and I had the privilege of visiting Our Lady School in Modakeke, Osun State, where we lit up the room with STEM energy! 💡🌟 We didn’t just talk about STEM and WAAW Foundation we brought it to life. We showed these amazing girls why tech is the future and shared how it can be a game changer in their lives and society. But we didn’t stop there. We also proposed starting a STEM Club for them, because who says learning can’t be both fun and transformative? Now, for the fun part: Guess what practical experiment we did! 👀 (You won’t get it unless you’ve seen the video!) We dived into Newton’s Third Law of Motion, and trust me, the girls LOVED it! 🚀 Watching their excitement as they discovered how "every action has an equal and opposite reaction" was pure magic. It was STEM outside the classroom but directly tied to their academics. Something they’ll NEVER forget. For me, this was personal. It was my very first time teaching a group of nearly 25 students all by myself. I won’t lie I was shy at first😂. But their energy was contagious, and soon, we were all flowing together. By the end, it wasn’t just an outreach; it was an unforgettable experience. 🥰 Moments like these remind me why I’m passionate about tech, education, and creating a ripple effect of knowledge. Here’s to more thrilling STEM adventures and empowering the next generation! 🚀💻 WAAW Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter #STEMOutreach #GirlsInSTEM #NewtonLovesOsun #FirstTimeTeaching #STEMClubInTheMaking #TechForChange #STEMIsFun #WAAWFOUNDATION #WAAWOAU
