CALLING IN MY NETWORK!! After the murder of George Floyd, so many companies and funders were grabbing every opportunity to throw money at nonprofits like Code2040 to prove that they "aren't racist." Well, it's been 4 years, and with the attempted erasure of DEI and initiatives associated with it- those companies have recoiled back into their racist and oppressive ways. Black and Brown folks continue to be underrepresented, dehumanized, and oppressed both in their daily livelihood and their work. Especially in tech spaces, we need Black and Brown people more than ever. Code2040 is committed to "figuring it out," the same way people like us are always expected to —but our mission remains the same. We are activating and mobilizing the largest racial equity community in tech. Our goal: to dismantle the structural barriers that keep our Black and Latinx emerging tech leaders from leading the innovation economy. ❤️📈👏 Day #2 of #AFPICON is over. But it feels like day 15 (in a good way). Here are my highlights. 📌 GiveSmart App lead a great presentation about how nonprofits are spending the entire year fundraising, not just at the end of the year. Thinking about fundraising outside of the typical end of year cycle, how can nonprofits create opportunities to engage their constituencies in unique, creative and personalized ways. 📌 I served at the #AFP Idea information HUB to represent the pirinciples of inclusion, diversity, equity and access. Fundraisers work with a wide variety of constituencies. Many of us come from places that have not exposed us to the beauty and depth of all the experiences that exist on this Earth. We must be kind, open and welcoming to all. 📌 One of the most mind-blowing presentations centered around moving from a place of scarcity to an environment of ABUNDANCE. Nonprofits do so much good work. It is not a rat race to the bottom. This is a world of plenty where fundraisers have millions of opportunities to raise the money they need to accomplish their missions. Change your framework and seek abundance. One more day left and happening now. Check all you beautiful people tomorrow. 🥰
