🌱 ProtectDefenders.eu celebrates International #Youth Day! This day was created to bring Youth issues to the global attention and celebrate the potential of Youth to drive positive change and achieve the sustainable development goals set in the UN 2030 Agenda. In many parts of the world, Youth, that comprise half of the global population, are at the centre of human rights and sustainability activism. We highlight the urgency to include this vast youth population in political dialogues and decision-making processes around crucial matters, including climate change, peace, democracy, and human rights. ProtectDefenders.eu recognises the immense value of Youth in today’s evolving world and positions Youth activists and Youth civil society organisations as priority categories within its Mechanism. 💡Read on our latest report how we supported the Ugandan human rights, student-led organisation, Students for Global-Democracy Uganda, through training and financial support. https://lnkd.in/dA9XFP_V #YouthDay #Sustainability #HumanRights

Today, we commemorate the historic milestone that marked the end of apartheid and the dawn of democracy in our beloved nation. This day symbolizes the hard-fought struggle for freedom, equality, and human rights 🤝 As we reflect on our past and celebrate how far we've come, let's also acknowledge the ongoing journey towards true liberation and reconciliation. Let's honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and recommit ourselves to building a society where every person, regardless of race, gender, or background, can thrive and live in dignity 🇿🇦 Let Freedom Day serve as a reminder of the power of unity, resilience, and hope. Together, let's continue to work towards a future of justice, equality, and prosperity for all South Africans. 🌟 🌲🌳 #Agriconomy #SustainableInvesting #ImpactInvesting #SustainableAgriculture #InvestInAfrica #ResponsibleInvesting #CommunityEmpowerment #EnvironmentalImpact #TripleBottomLine #SustainableFuture #SustainableAgriculture #PositiveImpact #foodsecurity #AgriInvestment #ESG #ESGInvestment

If you see all this green … What comes to mind about #Justice “Are the Palestinians worth being part of the global family?” “The overwhelming support sends a crystal clear message — the State of Palestine deserves its rightful place among the UN Members,” Arguments in Favor of Full Membership: Self-Determination: Proponents argue that the Palestinian people have a right to self-determination and statehood, which full UN membership would help recognize and legitimize. International Support: Many countries and international organizations, including the majority of UN member states, support Palestinian statehood and have recognized Palestine as a state. Equality and Representation: Full membership would provide Palestine with the same rights and responsibilities as other member states, ensuring equal representation in international forums. Peace Process: Supporters believe that recognizing Palestine as a full member could bolster efforts for a two-state solution and add momentum to the peace process with Israel by providing a more balanced platform for negotiations. The EU should act like Spain 🇪🇸 Ireland 🇮🇪 and #Norway 🇳🇴 did just now #GoGreen 2024 is the year of CHANGE for 🇵🇸✌️☮️🙏

Yesterday marked one year of Sudan's civil war, and the crisis has hit alarming milestones with more than 18 million people facing starvation, and 70 percent of hospitals no longer functioning. Humanitarian needs are escalating alongside reports from UNHCR of surges in sexual violence. The humanitarian response is severely underfunded, far from meeting OCHA's estimate $2.7Bn requirement. Among imperatives is the importance of recognizing the specific needs of women and girls in both the humanitarian response as well as in routes to stabilization and peace. As my colleagues and I have explored 👇 women have been at the forefront of efforts for democratic change in the country, and effective conflict response and resolution will require enhanced gender sensitivity alongside work towards inclusive peace. https://lnkd.in/gqThXwnb (See also https://lnkd.in/gykupC4t)

There’s a powerful program across El Salvador called "De Una!" that supports young people and women. Through various UN agencies, the government, the private sector, NGOs, and communities, the program encourages youth, prevention violence, and peace by empowering residents (specifically young people and women) to take ownership of peacebuilding in their communities. The program addresses root causes of conflict, improves social cohesion, and develops economic opportunities. "De Una!" proves that involving women and youth is essential as catalysts for change, knowing they hold unique perspectives and skills contributing to conflict prevention, resolution, and long-term sustainable peace. #16DaysofActivism Day 6. Iceland is still the best country to be a woman and the worst is Afghanistan (2023 Global Gender Gap Report). Want to see less violent conflict and wars? Keep working towards #genderequality: the countries closest to closing the #gendergap are also the most peaceful.
